Miami in the SEC: opinions?

How bout we don't expand at all :shakehead:... It doesn't make sense why we would want a harder schedule than we already have

So, would a three loss team from the SEC still get in the BCS NC game over a one-loss Big Ten or Big Twelve team or even an undefeated non-BCS team? please discuss.

no chance. Manning, Chris Johnson, Randy Moss and God could all be playing in your conference and it wouldn't make up for having that much of a disparity in the win-loss column.

if the SEC were going to expand by 2.....

i would say texas and texas a&m

if by 4.....

i would say tx, tx a&M, nc, and duke.

Texas isn't going to budge. They already made it clear when they said no to all the big 10 money

epic fail on Miami's part... you see what happened to them once they left the Big East? no conference titles or BCS games since then... so why would they want a HARDER schedule?

who cares if they want a harder or easier schedule. i want them in the SEC so we can beat them every year. this is about what we (I)want.

It makes you think... With the rumors of conferences expanding and names like Texas -among others- being thrown around to join the SEC, does anyone else feel that it could eventually lead to a playoff type post season scenario? or could conference representatives be trying to undermine the BCS system entirely?

- Texas will not join the SEC as long as it is the toughest conference in the game. Ever ever ever.

- Why would the conference leaders undermine something that makes them lots of money?

Miami needs the SEC much more than the SEC needs them. Fan support is terrible and their facilities are worse.

That said, UF fans would bring 40K fans down to Landshark Stadium to watch Randy Shannon get pounded.

Please....Miami joining the SEC is every single gator fans worse nightmare....You have beaten them ONCE in 25 years....It's no secret UF has avoided Miami like the plague....Adding Miami would keep UF from constantly scheduling those cream puffs they do every year :clapping:

I would love to see miami in the SEC.
Could possibly help/improve Miami Dade County recruiting.
If they ever get back would add even more star power.
MOST of all it would really piss the gators off.

Shannon won't be there much longer....IMO he was only a band aid to begin with...His head coaching abilities are terrible...But be assured they would go after a top coach to get them going again....Wouldn't take long with the talent they draw in down here.

Agreed, I like Shannon but think he got in over his head too early.
It doesnt even take a great coach to win there (butch davis, larrry coker).

Like UT-Martin? Western Kentucky perhaps?

I'm on record here several times as saying I'd like to see UF play Miami more often.

The OP's question wasn't whether or not UF wanted Miami in the SEC, is was whether or not Miami joining the SEC was a good idea. I don't think Miami adds anything to the SEC personally. They're a small private school with poor facilities, fickle fan support and very little commitment to sports outside of football and baseball.

That said, and this is probably the 5th or 6th time I've said it, UF and Miami should play a home-and-home at least once each decade.

Miami would have to come to the SEC. Worst case for both FSU and Miami would be USF joining the SEC. This would leave those schools out in the cold. I could see USF or FSU/Miami, Ga Tech, UNC, and Va Tech. Unless, Texas and Texas A&M are available. Regardless, something is going to happen and it appears that it may happen soon.

I have to agree with our friend here. Miami may have a history, but they have no passionate fan support. It is pathetic watching them and their half full stadium, and this was in the 00s when they were rolling everyone (but us that is).

I liked the idea of adding some good hoops schools to the east and some football schools to the west.

I love SEC as it is, but I def do not want anymore Florida teams in SEC. That could hurt recruiting big time!!
