Miami in the SEC: opinions?

I'd like to see GaTech replace Vandy... and add FSU to the SEC-E and TAMU to the SEC-W.

Miami would have to come to the SEC. Worst case for both FSU and Miami would be USF joining the SEC. This would leave those schools out in the cold. I could see USF or FSU/Miami, Ga Tech, UNC, and Va Tech. Unless, Texas and Texas A&M are available. Regardless, something is going to happen and it appears that it may happen soon.

In no way will Duke and UNC not be in the same conference.

If we are talking natural rivals Ga. Tech fits with UGA, Clemson with USCe and UGA, FSU with Florida plus it's a better fit culturally than Miami and Louisville is a natural rival with UK. Va Tech and UT could form a nice rivalry as well.

However it's about TV so those schools don't seem likely to be the choices.

2001 they had the best college team ever

Agreed, that team was the best I have ever seen.

Someone mentioned earlier that Miami plays creampuffs.
I have to argue with that
I think they play oklahoma or ohio state this year.
They play huge non conf games every year.

Not to mention thier willingness to schedule tough teams benefited that 98 UT Team.
If you remember the U knocked off UCLA in a makeup hurricane game that year and help locked UT in the BCS game

I'd like to see UT and VT play more... but not in the same conference.

Solid point. If Vandy went to the Big 10/16, the SEC could add both UNC and Duke. Though, Duke lacks the stadium for SEC crowds. No problem, take NC State over both of them.

epic fail on Miami's part... you see what happened to them once they left the Big East? no conference titles or BCS games since then... so why would they want a HARDER schedule?
They got worse because of Larry Coker.

It's not much further from State College, PA and would give the Big Ten and its network access to the largest media market in the US.

They'd probably have better luck with Syracuse... but NYC really couldn't care less as a whole about collegiate sports as a whole.

FSU and Miami in the east would be great imo

it would bring alot more talent cuz lets get serious the east is joke compared to the west

but texas aint leaving thats for sure maybe we could get okie state and TX tech or A&M cuz the west already deep as hell i they dont want texas and OK on their schedule every year including BAMA, LSU, AUB, Ark,ole miss, miss st. (their on the rise with mullen beleive that he's a great coach you'll see when starts getting his upsets and better recruiting)

Disagree.

GT was a charter member of the SEC, and their natural rivalry with UGA makes them a much better fit than Miami.
I'd love to see them both in the SEC, but Miami makes a whole lot more sense from a money standpoint. That south Florida TV market is probably a bigger opportunity than the ATL market which is basically already taken care of by UGA anyway.

it's isn't just NYC, it's basically the entire northeast. this is why syracuse has been consistantly overrated for 20 years in the polls in both sports (of course now that they suck in football it's not as true as before). you have what 40% of the ap voters in a region that doesn't care about football and really only knows about one or two teams.

You obviously never saw the 1996 Nebraska team play...Hands down the best team I have EVER seen...I am sure UF fans will agree with me on that...In case you missed it here is a flashback to that exciting "Koff" national championship game against the mighty gators :) First half: YouTube - Gators vs Huskers (1996 Fiesta Bowl- First Half) 2nd half: YouTube - 2nd Half - 96 Fiesta Bowl Huskers vs Gators
You're talking about 1995 Nebraska, and I think the Canes handle them.
