Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

Dyer is a huge upgrade at the running back position

Post of the day IMO. I think that he would come in and give an instant jump start to this running game. He could be the difference maker in alot of games. And we could start that in Eugene. Lane and Neal IMO are second tier backs but last year Graham done a masterful job in coaching them up.

At best, you have an SEC level top tier running back moving the chains and keeping your defense off the field.

At worst, you dismiss him and you're back where you started.

Seems low risk to me.

sexual assault is sexual assault, no matter the age. i knew right from wrong in grade school. i would have also never stood by and watched that happen. Hood is not innocent. anyways, thats all i care to talk about it. its a pointless argument, and way off topic.

You've apparently never been in that position, so why would anyone here believe you when you say what you would or would not have done in the same situation. You have no idea what you, as a 13 year old, would have done in that situation.

talking about this is pointless. i wish i had never jumped into this conflict of morality mess. i hope the staff gives Dyer a shot.

The victim has forgiven him, maybe you should too. Read the stories where they have since reunited. If I remember correctly , the whole situation was started by an older relative, and hood froze up in fear. The victim stated as much. Judge not lest ye also be judged.

Correct....

So O.J and Casey Anthony are innocent too?

"I tried to advise him that he shouldn't go," Dyer said of the former teammates' meeting at Dyer's residence, when Goodwin picked up the gun.

Michael Dyer: gun used in armed robbery was mine - CBSSports.com

That story was from a blooger on CBS sports. He is very vauge on what Dyer said on the stand. I also read a story on CBS sports that Dyer said on the stand that the gun was taken without his permission. Being that CBS sports is all over the map on this story I'll just go with the fact that Dyer made his apperence on the stand and was not charged in the robbery. He actually tryed to talk them out of it. He has had some problems but seems to have turned the corner.

You bring up OJ and Casey Anthony is stupid.

So if we can get Dyer's alleged victims to write a letter stating they forgive him we should be good to go.

or are you going to start calling someone out and then run and hide?

You don't have to worry about me running and hiding.. Bringing him into this conversation is an 'apples vs. oranges' comparison an unnecessary is simply my opinion, no need to take it personal. When I said many on here acted badly when he was recruited, I did not mean to infer that you were one of them. Also, your opinion that "Daniel Hood put a stench on our team that people will not forget", I'm guessing is not shared by as many as you would like and frankly assinine.. You might want to read the court documents dealing with his case.. They were available online at the time. I assume they are still..

Clear enough for you..

Fair enough I should have worded the 'stench' thing better, but you jumped right in after I stated Hood is on the team so no one should have a problem with Dyer and tried to reverse the argument I was making into some political tough guy mantra.

You may want to get out of your neck of the woods because I still see/hear the plunger jokes and probably will for a long time. So I would guess that a fair amount more people than you think, love reminding everyone associated with UT of that fact and its going on in the recruiting areas. So think ts assinine all you want maybe you guys would like to know some (not all) of the negative recruiting that Hood still brings.

For what its worth, I do believe Hood should have been given his NCAA chance, I still believe he should have gone somewhere else.

You called hood out . I'd like to see you say to his face that he's a stench on this team. I know you wouldnt have the balls to. If he didn't bash your face in plenty of his teammates would. You need to shut your face while you're behind, no reason to get all Coochie hurt ... Dyer or no Dyer

Ok, I would be Ok with giving Dyer a second chance. I think he would vie fo rthe starting job with Lane and Neal this year. I don't think Lane or Neal are second tier backs. I think this year will be breakout years for one or both.

Also we haven't seen Dyer play in a while, so who knows if he is better or worse than a few years ago.

I think Butch will use the back in a better situation than Chaney and Dooley did last year and we are actually ok at back barring injury.

The 3HL crew on 104.5 the zone out of Nashville just said a minute ago that UT is now "all in" on bringing in Dyer. Not sure how true this is but just wanted to pass along what they said bc I havent seen any mention of this on here yet. I hope they are right.
