Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

Please admit you are trolling. Please

This is actually one of the easiest rules to understand

Read the rules man, attending a game or being a fan does not qualify. Not sure how you came to that conclusion.

Heck, by your logic, we represent every BCS school. We've all paid TV services to watch hundreds of teams play, does that make us representatives of every BCS team in the country?

We should all go buy Bama players some pizza and get the whole team suspended!

Wait, so you also believe it's fine for UT fans to give recruits and players gifts? Email that idea to compliance and see what they say

im not saying its not against the rules per say... but i dont think its enforceable. if its enforceable, im going to start sending Bama stuff to all recruits

I've read them and I've seen the replies from UT compliance. Check out their discussions over fans tweeting recruits and that's not as bad as actually buying stuff for them

You don't think? That's the same argument made over social media or painting the rock and compliance voided that too. Use your head

Well Dyer is much better than Lane or Neal. Also what would be the negatives to bringing him in for 1 season? If he gets in trouble, send him packing. I realize he has gotten in trouble before but what if he came here, kept clean and produced?

I am not saying we absolutely should take him but he is worth a look IMO. Of course if Butch thinks its a bad idea then I am with him. He knows what's going on.

you should ban everybody on VN that directs a message toward a recruit then. there are several fans on this site that direct their posts toward a recruit in their thread. message boards are a form of social media

Speaking, or tweeting to a recruit is one thing. Buying a recruit gifts is a line no one should cross unless they want to risk causing the recruit and themselves issues. Maybe it turns out to be nothing and it's not a big deal. There is always the chance the NCAA decides to make an example out of someone. Unless you have a preexisting relationship with a recruit, I would not open that can of worms. Nothing good can come of it.

That's not a direct message. Seriously, ask compliance if you're confused since they do monitor message boards

Would you hand a recruit $50 and say go vols with it? Now what's the difference between cash and $50 worth of UT gear?

I think that is the problem here. Some fans WOULD do it and see nothing wrong with it.

Was just informed by a lifelong friend of mine who works at 247 that Dyer has chosen and been granted a transfer to UT. I'm unsure as to how he came across this information or of its legitimacy. But just figured I'd let y'all know of the rumors round the 247 neighborhood.

If true, what are your thoughts?

Nope.

im not the one talking about giving stuff to recruits. all ive been talking about is what the rules classify a "representative" and how i dont think its enforceable

Doesn't matter whether you would do it or if you see it as enforceable.

Can a UT fan give money to a recruit? That is what you're arguing in favor of now

. . . and if you don't think you're a booster and then send a gift to a player, recruit or one of their family members, guess what you just became?

I wouldn't be 100% surprised if this happens. Tiny was asking for the guys number or something on twitter awhile back.
