Michael Sam, Missouri DE, Is Gay

Not saying it is right or wrong, but in all of our life times none of us will ever see the day where homosexuals (especially men) can walk around openly gay and not be looked at different. The majority of the public will always look at them differently. That is real talk.

that's not real talk that's just ignorance. It's also exactly why this guy coming out is a big deal whether people want to admit it or not

Hate? I never said I hated gays.

I don't like it, just like I don't like Bama. I've lived 9 years amongst Bama fans and tolerated them. Some were good friends until they start talking smack.
I don't want gays talking smack to my kids. Get it now?

Why would a gay person talk smack to your kids? Why would anyone talk smack to your kids?

So shouldn't the issue of people talking smack to your kids, not that someone is a homosexual?

I am not saying I agree, but you can't argue against it. That is just the world we live in, especially in the bible belt.

For those of you that quietly sit by and and are not saying anything as Christians, I will not join you. It is not acceptable in the eyes of Christ. As a christian I am called to love the sinner and hate the sin, same as I would be called to do a thief, adulterer, or liar. I do not know Mr Sam but would tell him the same thing I told my best friend. I'm sorry you feel that you need to life like this. As a brother in Christ I love you and will be there if you need to talk but I will not condone or conform to the notion that it's acceptable. Because it is not. Not a gay basher/hater. Just standing firm in my beliefs and pray Mr Sam and others like him will come to the clarity that homosexuality is a sin and repent. I say this all as a humble, forgiven sinner, that falls short daily and is saved by God's grace. I just feel sorry for young people that are struggling with homosexuality in that they are told it's ok by society and anyone that tells them different is full of hate. I see it the opposite. Anyone that is willing to stand up and tell you that it's not ok will face persecution . That's more loving than just agreeing to face the path of least resistance.

Yeah I get it. You're like a lot of people who would rather have their children in safe environment. Places like church... you know, god fearing, Christ loving individuals like this alabama youth pastor, straight, married with 2 kids who is charged with 31 counts of child abuse last week...

Or, the nearly 17,000 estimated victims of child abuse by priests in the Catholic church

I'm saying I'd hate for homosexual to make a move or entice my kids into something.

I guess if you have kids, you don't care what they get into?

you're confusing pedophilia with homosexuality. Might want to stop that

I know you're probably a good man or woman, but you also know that the Bible doesn't explicitly condemn slavery, genocide, ethnocentrism, and misogyny either, right? And as far as its take on homosexuality, that's up for debate.

I do know this, however, if we're going Old Testament, the Bible does condemn eating pork. So all you Southerners better start going Texas style on your BBQ.

I hope he doesn't face any bulls**t because of his orientation. If the guy prefers men rather than women thats his choice, and its not a virus that you will catch if you come in contact with him which it seems AIRVOL makes it out to be. The guy was a hell of a collegiate football player, do I agree with the one bad choice he made, of playing for Mizzou instead of the Big Orange, absolutely not but his preference of who he spends his life with is his choice and I hope he finds happiness. Go Vols.

Did you pray for repentance for judging Michael? Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

I'm with you, bud, but take it easy. We need to prove that we can respect dissenting opinions and not just attack them.

PJ, maybe so. We have a registered sex offender living about 6 houses down from us and the neighborhood is on pins and needles about it. I'm just a little paranoid about it.

But hey, the bible does talk about daughters sleeping with their fathers: Genesis 19:31-35

At least Southerners follow that one.

Agreed.

It really boils down to whether or not you think being gay is a conscious choice, like deciding between eating dinner at a Mexican restaurant instead of Italian.

I'm of the opinion that your sexuality chooses you, not the other way around.

That's been my gripe for years. Judging is sin, lying is sin, etc. Being so hung up on the speck when there's a plank of your own, so to speak.

Jesus got more pissed at church folk (Pharisees) than he ever did with sinners.

when I was younger, I thought it was a choice. As I have aged, I'm 100% confident it's a choice for some, and not a choice for others.

What does science support, I ask because I don't really know. Do they think people are born gay, or choose to become gay?

I hate to break it to you man, but people don't get tricked into being gay.

Before his announcement, Sam had already emerged as a divisive prospect. Some look at his SEC-best 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss and see a high-motor pass rusher who could go as high as the third round. Others see Sam, who is 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, as an undersized defensive end without a true position in the NFL. Of his 11.5 sacks, nine came in three games against what one scout called "garbage competition" -- Vanderbilt, Arkansas State and Florida. "His numbers are inflated," a scout said. "You've got to see through that."
