He might be waiting awhile, Kennedy just got a new deal last year iirc. There's also plenty of guys who don't go to their alma mater, or get out, some realize it's not the best option. Ole Miss is a dumb, doesn't pay great, has crappy fan support, and facilities are garbage compared to other schools.
Could he be waiting for another job because he has a good returning l squad? Sure. I don't think he's waiting for Ole Miss on the chance it comes available next year. What happens if Ole Miss is good next year?
If White were to pass, I'd be OK with Howland IF as you mentioned before he has inquired about the job AND he came in at the right price. With so many schools passing on him, the man has no leverage at the bargaining table IMO no matter what his resume says. Howland at around 1.6-1.8, I could go for. No buyout would be another benefit for UT. Howland for Martin and UT puts 1 million+ in the bank? Not bad at all.
I expect to hear nothing definitive today.
Tomorrow I would think we will know one way or the other.
I am leaning toward White accepting the offer.
If he stays at La Tech, I wouldn't think it's necessarily in hopes of getting Ole Miss job. Maybe he looks at our roster and his roster at La Tech and thinks it will benefit him long term to stay at la tech next year.
Absolutely, I've said the same. He's gotta decide if that's a risk he wants to take, which is why I think you've heard the buyout being a possible hanging point. He probably wants a lot of security if things don't go well here, because he's taking a big risk. He has a good chance of having much more bargaining power and attracting more jobs next year.
The "petition" could really turn out to bite us in the a$$. Depleted roster, unruly fan base... Yeah not working in our favor here gentleman.
Big risk in staying, if he has a key player blow an acl and they miss on the NCAA tournament, might be a new batch of hot names next off season.
