Your logic is misfiring, friend. If keeping signs from opponents is that critical, then why allow anyone in the stands or along the sidelines other than immediate team players? And do background checks on fans sitting in the stands? Put a 1 mile no- trespassing zone around the practice field including ban on the Goodyear blimp and satellites .
I just think the role this plays in the outcome of a game does not rise to the level of attention it's getting nor the punishment that is going to cost Hairboughs his job
If you’re referring to the big black shields that Tennessee throws up before every offensive play, I don’t think those are to hide signals. Pretty sure they are used to help the players on the field find the coaches on the sideline who are signaling in the plays.
My point = you missed, is if signs are that encrypted and ever so important to the point of firing a coach, and all the hairpulling we see today, then why not make it harder to steal them in the first place ? Why are folks off the street allowed in the stands or anywhere near the practice field?Your logic is misfiring, friend.
Flip your analysis on its head: if keeping signs from opponents is NOT critical, as you seem to be saying, why do teams--all teams, every single one of them--spend so much time, $$ and effort keeping it from happening?

Instead, why don't we all just put a portable road sign on the sidelines and do this:

Can you explain why we're not all just doing that, if it's not important?
Go Vols!
Because fans drive the sport and pay salaries. Coaches however dressing up and sneaking on opposite teams sidelines with spyware so they can record and decipher plays of upcoming opponents is completely different. My point = you missed, is if signs are that encrypted and ever so important to the point of firing a coach, and all the hairpulling we see today, then why not make it harder to steal them in the first place ? nope, stealing signs is something all teams try to do and everyone knows it. If you ain't stealing signs, you ain't trying. At any given game there are thousands of fans, some of them at the 50 yard line , all with the capabilities of stealing signs. Do we ban all fans from the stands ? All this clutching of pearls over something that cannot be prevented and that everyone tries to do is just sillyThats your best response?
Your points are totally off the mark. The issue with UM isn't knowing the other teams signs, it's using video recordings to decipher the signs and advance scouting to record those signs.nope, stealing signs is something all teams try to do and everyone knows it. Trying to figure it out during a live game is one thing. Sending a cøck jockey to advance scout well in advance allows them time to diagnose what is recorded. So when you check at the line they most likely already know your tendencies. Furthermore doing this and potentially using it to alter the CFP is a huge problem for the games integrity. And sorry I do not buy the if you aint cheating you ain't trying bullsh1t. It doesn't strike you odd Harbaugh sucked before they started advance scouting ? He accomplished fk all beforehand. Dude is a cheat and yes it's a big deal
What do you expect them to say other than pointing fingers ? They had no other defense, the guy was filmed and they have a paper trail. It sounds like the conference as a whole was doing this. Harbaugh is just the first one (of many) to be caught. Michigan could be full of it but they are saying they have documentation and proof of other schools in the conference doing this.
Pretty wild how crazier this story gets each week.
I hope Michigan sings, and all the Big 10 teams get in trouble. It would be hilarious. It sounds like the conference as a whole was doing this. Harbaugh is just the first one (of many) to be caught. Because football is, at root, entertainment. It exists FOR people to watch. Don't be a goof, lol.My point = you missed, is if signs are that encrypted and ever so important to the point of firing a coach, and all the hairpulling we see today, then why not make it harder to steal them in the first place ? Maybe had something to do with the fact he has already been suspended this year and has lied before. Maybe this is them saying enough. Harbaugh is a toolCorrect. I think the biggest issue is the conference did a typical Friday afternoon news dump with the suspension. No reason to do it that close to the game.
