And we have no one on our squad better. Would you take G.Jones over R.Small?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

You said he would be a star at Florida. It doesn't matter if I would take Jones over him.

If he's not good enough to back up Hartline, Robiskie, Thomas, and Posey, he's sure as hell not good enough to start on Florida, much less be a star.

And yes, I would take Jones over Small.

Jones has more receiving TD's this season than Small has in his career.

Jones has 170 more yards in 12 more catches.

Jones averaged 2 more yards per catch this season.

Jones had 126 yards rushing and a TD. Small has -1.

This post shows us the reason our program has gone down hill. When I watched OSU play USC looked as if Small and Pryor were the only two from the Buckeyes O that should be on the field with the Trojans that day. Hartline and Robiskie have proved nothing. It just seems to me that they a Tressel's favorites. Small is explosive with the ball in his hands. If he was returning punts for us we would have had two or three for TDs easy. Considering how far no speed G.Jones got with the kicks he fielded.

You say Hartline and Robo have proved nothing, then what the hell have Ray Small and Denarius Moore proved? Seriously, what is your obsession with fast WRs? Just because your fast doesn't mean your good. There's a reason that Small is like the 7th WR on their depth chart, and I trust the Senators opinion a hell of a lot more than anyone should trust yours.

And how does 6 catches for 30 yards against USC show that hes capable of staying on the field with them?

And ok, no speed Jones who ran a 4.43 40 is so much slower than a guy who ran a 4.38.

No offense to him, but I am pretty sure that bburgers' opinion has no bearing on our program being down.

Look at his football speed. He looks a heck of a lot faster than Jones. Also the Senator is proving year after year what would happen if he coached in the SEC. He would get his butt kicked year in and year out.

Ok, sure he's faster on the field than Jones, he's still not some ungodly fast player your making him out to be.

And ok, he's lost a couple of bowl games, when his team was clearly outmatched. Big deal. He's still proved infinitely more than you have, so that makes his opinion much more valuable.

Plus, he's more of a distraction than anything else. He's been suspended, and his dad has accused Tress of "They're intentionally trying to blow his career".

Either way, he's said he's going into the NFL draft this year, so we'll see who's right on how great of a player he is. You, or the NFL scouts.

Kids from Glenville have great speed and can definitely play in the SEC. Ray Small has great potential but he is one of the few that has not lived up to it.

Yeah, this too basically. It's not like I'm out there coaching or recruiting anyone.

I was speaking more towards the athlete that we recruit. Gerald Jones I have never really been wowed by this guy. He runs more like 4.5 to me. And he doesn't carry his pads well at all. Even in his high school film he wasn't just a true burner. I don't like guys his size that are not fast. What else does he bring to the table. We can get a 6'3 guy to do what he does.

Bad decision on him. He should stick it out and play this year. He better hope he makes an impact as a punt returner for now and work his way in as a third receiver. That would be a terrible decision if he leaves though.

He's quick and he runs pretty good routes. He'd be a good slot WR, but he doesn't really need to be split out wide.

Yeah, but his dad says he's either doing that or transferring to an FCS school because "They're intentionally trying to blow his career"

And if he can't start now, I can't even imagine how he's going to get close when they keep bringing in better WR's.

Next year he'll be backing up Posey, Stoneburner, Hartline, Thomas, and Sanzenbacher. He might not even get to return punts anymore.

Classic case of having too much ability for your own good. He just never knew what he had to do to enhance his gamebreaking talent.

Yep, same with Jamario O'Neal, one of the top DB recruits a few years ago along with Morley and Justin King of PSU. A fast Glenville guy who never lived up to his potential but he's the first one down the field on KOs every time.

And I haven't heard anything about Small entering the draft so he could be back next year. The problems are that he's been hurt, in the doghouse, and underutilized his entire career. I can only remember one go route OSU's sent him on.

Back to Edwards. It would be stupid to not go after this guy if he's interested. Any semblance of a pipeline from Glenville would be great for any school.

This could be a mistake b/c we haven't heard anything on Rivals or GoVolsExtra or anywhere else for that matter, but on Mike Edwards' personal profile page on an Ohio football website, he's listed as committed to Tennessee. The players create/manage their own profile on this site, so unless someone else logged-in and changed his info, this could be legit...

If true, good get because this is a high school we want to form good relations with.

Can't hurt, but he is going to most likely choose between Ohio State and Illinois tomorrow. And one teammate probably does not make that much of a difference. Even if it does, another teammate, John Newsome, is an OSU verbal. OSU has the pipeline to the 'ville, but Illinois could steal him much like they stole Cordale Scott out of Glenville last year. He was considered a OSU lock from the start.
