and in reverse, what's going on with Aubie, Utah, Boise St, TCU, Iowa, Stanford, how's Oregons recruiting rankings been? I'm sure none of these teams are performing to their recruiting ranking, or their BCS predicted performance. Analysis without really analyzing anything is fun.

But compare it over time:

Top-10 Recruiting Programs
2004-2009

# of National Titles: 6 for 6
# of National Title Appearances: 12 for 12
# of SEC Titles: 6 for 6
# of PAC-10 Titles: 5 for 6
# of Big-12 Titles: 6 for 6
# of Big 10 Titles: 6 for 6

The exceptions mostly lie in the second-tier BCS conferences, like the ACC or Big East, or in non-BCS conferences without BCS schedules, and almost all run unusual or option-style offenses (Oregon, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest).

This year is the exception, not the rule.

Mark Ingram was a four star on rivals. He was ranked 189 in the rivals 250. So Ingram is not a good example of a low ranked player going on to have success.
