"Distracted Driving" IOW your cell phone in your hand; is responsible for more accidents than DUI. So, let's have that talk too.
I see someone drifting into my lane, head-on, almost everyday during my 30 minute morning and afternoon drives to work. A phone is strongly visible or likely.

Sometimes it is a close-call, and sometimes, it involves big trucks. Gets worse every year.

Yep. Notice how many cars have that sideswiped damage? And you are right about the Semis. A distracted truck driver is a very dangerous situation. I saw the results of a semi crossing the median and colliding with another semi. Horrible.. Distracted driving is epidemic.

He simply said what so many are afraid to say out loud. Find me one person who drinks and calls a ride/lines up a DD every single time they have a drink, regardless of how little. I’ve always said I’ll never judge a person over a DUI because I could’ve been caught umpteen times too; like Gundy said.
Agreed. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Not condoning it but it’s far more common than most would like to admit.

I have been showing my daughter just that exact thing. She is 13. We live in a rural community but it’s just as bad. Daily cars are on our side of the road. I start braking way back and she asked why.. have to watch all the other dimwits, that’s why. It’s crazy

I am in rural W TN. I think it is worse in the country and small towns.
I think The space and lower traffic falsely make some people feel more comfortable taking attention away from the road.

I too am showing my son how I am consistently swerving away from vehicles in MY space and being the only driver watching out for the safety of both vehicles.
My son is 15 and learning to drive. It is a challenge to demonstrate to him how he has to make an assumption that other drivers will do nothing to protect him from them. It is the scariest part for me. He thinks all drivers are responsible and will do what they are supposed to do. I don't want him to learn a very hard lesson.

Exactly! She says, driving doesn’t seem that hard. I told her that it’s not at all, it’s people that get distracted, impaired or whatever that makes it difficult. In my older age, I’ll slow down if a car even creeps while at a light because who knows if they are about to take off. I was at a 4 way about a month ago and I looked left, right, and as soon as I looked back left, a car flew right threw (had to be 50 mph or so). Took me a minute to even go because that could have been very bad

When I was teaching my kids to drive, I told them to assume that nearly every driver out there was trying to kill them, and that the rest were trying to kill themselves and planned to take my kid(s) with them.
