Watch all the NegaVols erupt with "told you so's". I just hope that whoever is the coach in the fall has more support from the fanbase, be it Bruce or otherwise. Reading this garbage dragging coaches who are giving their all for Tennessee through the mud (i.e. choose your average Hatvol post) is getting to be sickening. I bet no other SEC school would treat one of their winningest coaches in this manner--in any sport.

Other SEC schools would be praising their coach for creating a serious NCAA mess and lying to them, crying to the press, and then not reporting another violation 4 days later. I can't imagine why anyone would be upset with Pearl. After all, there was no basketball prior to his coming.

"we’ll decide after we’re out of the NCAA Tournament what direction it is that we’re going to go next.”

So this weekend?

MH should have kept his mouth shut until after the tourney. All he is doing is publicly positioning hisself to keep his job. Fire Pearl or keep Pearl now is not the time for an AD to be saying things like this.

So how long after our season is over do we hear the news? I'm going with less than a week. I hate it for him, but Pearl did this to himself.

Pearl appears to be toast either way. Timing says screw Pearl and the tournament.

Hammy may be trying to distance himself as much as possible and probably covering his ass as much as possible, too.

Agree. Case solved.

Why couldn't they sit on it for two more days? It would have been nice to have at least beaten Michigan.

I think Mike sees the hand scribbling on the wall, too. Maybe a last ditch effort on his part.

I really don't see why Hamilton should feel any sympathy for or continue to back a coach who he originally gambled on and took heat for and then stood beside when he should have let the coach go only to be stabbed in the back by him again 4 days after a major pity party press conference.

I'd love to know the timing of when he found out about this in November and how it played into the NIT title.

I tend to agree with this. I'd be awfully surprised if he'd be allowed to be out in the media talking about this situation if he's a lame duck.

Hamilton will be hanging by a thread if he does survive this.

Just my two cents.

From what I've heard, Hammy is safe.

I've heard both and honestly I've gone back and forth on it myself.

He has to be feeling heat. But honestly, who would stop him from talking at this point?

I agree completely. I'm sure Hamilton just wants to get this season over with and start moving forward. This team isn't going far in the tournament anyway. Who knows, maybe this will light a fire under the team and they will try to let Pearl go out strong.

I wonder how long the athletic department has had their mind made up? september, november, february with the letter, or just now.... i lean towards thinking they've known what they were going to do since november.

I've pretty much decided I think he has to go.

That said, he led a helluva charge to save the football program from being implicated more in the LOA.

Once Pearl is gone, then Hopson & Harris will be gone also. Next season will be a horrible season because of all of the players that are departing.
