Mike Matthews to portal? [He’s staying]

The NIL will be the ruination for collegiate sports. No coach at the collegiate level will want to subject themselves to this level of madness. It is professional level arrangements without any oversight at all and zero regulation. It is truly madness and as much as I think players should get something (and I could debate all day long what that would be) it should not be like this. Players aren't going to be developed any longer. They are going to go to the universities with the most money to fork out. It's a sad state.

90/10 he stays. He was not able to meet with coaches prior to deadline due to family commitments etc. He wanted his paperwork in as a backup. They met today and made progress. He has reasonable concerns and isn’t holding anyone hostage. Let it play out.
His coach sucks we already know the story. Fire his ass yesterday and go get someone capable

It’s time for a general manager to deal with this.

This NIL and portal crap is just that crap. The NFL requires contracts that the players must meet. In contrast, the college player can take money and pretty much leave at any time the portal is open. This has to be addressed.
Doubt they get paid up front and have some language in the contract that voids it under certain circumstances like a morality clause.

I dont blame the freshman 5-Star offense recruits for leaving if they don't start or at least get 50% playing time. Other schools don't hold back Freshman on offense and its amazing to see them excel quickly and becoming a huge part of their play making ie Williams at Bama, Smith at Ohio State. Hype needs to let these guys play, we had no serious elite WR since Hyatt left.

So Matthews definitely played his hand right. Waiting till the last minute and knowing almost everybody else in the WR room had left he had all the leverage in negotiating a new deal
Can’t hate personally. Leaning toward it being an extra card to play that he had to use or lose.

Who is being held back that needs to play? You can possibly say Matthews but he was injured. Quite a few freshmen started this year

Duck these kids. I'm not renewing my season tickets bc I'm not paying these brats. I don't care as much as I used to bc of this nonsense. Scholarships were a huge thing to get. Nil, super conferences, stupid ass decisions for the playoffs. I don't watch the NFL ever. Ncaa is just nfl with brats.
Yeah whatever see you next season

Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of the Heupel era? Very concerning the talent that is leaving in the WR room.

Agreed. I’m not for players running coaches off, but if the position isn’t being developed it’s not difficult to figure out who the problem is. I think if a defensive lineman said he was leaving because he didn’t like Garner we’d all tell em to not let the door hit him on the way out. Pope hasn’t done much of anything.
