Mike Matthews to portal? [He’s staying]

Here lies the problem... you don't get to threaten to leave then be called a VFL
VFL needs to be disbarred imo has no meaning
We had 30,000 VFL’s that drove long hours, spent money, and braved 20 degree temps to get yelled at and watch our team get embarrassed.

DeVonta Smith says Hi.
Squirrel isn’t DeVonta Smith though. I would agree he can play at a big school, but mentioning his name alongside Devonta Smith’s is outrageous. Smith is also a lot taller and longer than Squirrel, on top of having elite body control and route running, two things Squirrel doesn’t have.

Squirrel should be a third receiver. He could be really good in that role with a good QB. Making him a number 1 guy with a mediocre QB will equate to a poor passing offense.

Not me. I don’t get mad at who goes, doesn’t get excited about who comes here, etc etc. I get excited for game day and don’t get wrapped up anymore in the players. I don’t even follow it that much , I just wait for it all to get sorted out. There is the spring portal window as well, so I’m not getting attached to anyone. Never know who decided to bolt in a few months.
Well aren't you cool!

Squirrel 5'10"
Smith 6'0"
Both about 170lbs in college.

Much taller and longer?

I'll agree Squirrel doesn't run routes as well as Smith but it's not about size at all IMO and certainly not speed as Smith isn't that fast for a WR.

So… the Vols have met his conditions and he has decided to not answer the phone, knowing full well that the University has to submit the paperwork per the rules.
What a pathetic, immature way of handling one’s affairs.
Good riddance. I hope anybody else who puts themselves in front of the team leaves, too.
Hopefully, this move will blow up in the faces of he and whoever is in his ear, and the Heupel staff will adequately replace him from the portal. There seems to be some quality options available.
Got some studs coming in and some already here.
Let’s RIDE.
GO BIG ORANGE
I'll leave this dead horse alone now. Time for me to stop being pathetic and immature... but I did want to laugh about this one last time

I'm glad this drama is over and MM is staying BUT since we're headed down this mostly unregulated (so far) NIL/portal road, the money these athletes receive should be performance based IMHO. Especially after they enroll. I understand the initial offer thing to attract them. If the coaches let the athlete play football, he better show them something on the field. If MM stats are not impressive next season with significant playing time (barring injury or something else crazy) then I'm not in favor of any sustained or increased NIL deals. I believe this should apply to all college athletes.

Squirrel is more like 5’8”. Smith simply has a bigger catch radius. The biggest difference between the two is body control and route running. Smith is an incredibly smooth athlete. Squirrel has trouble staying on his feet when catching a ball.

Yep. Someone was on here yesterday yelling about how he's "lazy and dumb".
Might be surprised but I doubt we’ll hear from him for awhile. Thinking Little Tommy either hit the VN transfer portal or got put in timeout. Started name calling in a few posts yesterday morning and haven’t seen him since. He won’t be missed.

I'm not at all suggesting Squirrel is a Smith clone.

Both are little guys and neither is very fast.

Squirrel's issues AREN'T that he's undersized or slow. Smith is too.

Squirrel's issues are he's not fluid and polished AND he didn't have 1st Round QBs dropping absolutely gleaming dimes in his lap.
