He might not of asked for more money, but I’m sure he will receive more money. Jaylen Wright did the same after the Orange Bowl. Enter the portal, see what’s there and come back. It’s a good leverage move and nice timing with the Nico uncertainty to help deflect.

We had some chance then pull it close. I don’t think it mattered we had no one that could stop smith. I do think the Oregon game was much uglier they had no answer whatsoever; when they scored a couple of times OSU decided to score again. Ohio state could score any time on Oregon; lanning will have to address that defense or they’ll never win a title imo.

There's more to a game than the final point totals, but I'm sure I'm wasting my time on that since you bothered to make a dumb comment instead of just being able to understand the broader point being made.

That said, I'll put one aspect in general football board language that even you may be able to understand, cus ya know, the math.

The score of our game at the half was 21-10 and Ohio State was scheming up a second half to try and finish off the game.

The score of the Oregon vs. Ohio State game at the half was 34-8 and Ohio State was in the locker room celebrating the win and starting film prep for Texas. They played the entire 3rd quarter in a shell defense and coasted out the game.

Is this all just trying to get as much $$$ as they can get or was there a serious problem in our WR room? I've not been able to keep up too much over the past week or two other than knowing most all WRs entered the portal. Any further info will be greatly appreciated.

A lot of theories floating around. One was the money. Another was that there were Nico leaving concerns and it was a precautionary portal entrance by MM. He could withdraw but no enter after the deadline, so this was his only option if he wanted an option.

There are rumors that the room doesn’t like Pope, but that’s coming from a bunch of guys that couldn’t get on the field. I’m not a huge fan of Pope and how he’s developed the WRs, seeing as they haven’t had good chemistry with the QB two years running now. So who knows? I’m guessing Matthews saw an opportunity to make more NIL, and if UT didn’t play ball he was cool going somewhere else, but he didn’t necessarily hate it at UT. That doesn’t exactly sound like an enthusiastic endorsement of Pope but more of a “I’ll stick around if you make it worth my while” type of situation. It’s good to have him back for the depth but now there will be lingering doubts about whether he will stay if he doesn’t get enough targets.

He didn't actually test the waters. He informed TN he planned to enter the portal. But no papers were ever filed due to the holiday and also having 48 hours to process it. Over that time, they sat down and talked and he changed the is mind. He was never officially in the portal.

He was fully on board for next season until the Nico scare made him reconsider.

I agree. We need a lot more talent to be in the national championship hunt consistently. We need top 5 classes for 3 or 4 years in a row to do that. We do have enough talent to be scrappy, however.

I said this last week. He is gonna be our go to guy next season and he deserves that recognition. He got his bag and he's gonna be a bad bad dude for us for the next couple years. He's a VFL. No worries. He never showed any signs of going elsewhere.

No matter how much you preach it and for how long, fans still gravitate toward wide receivers and running backs. Because, those are the people they watch while a game is going on or on TV. But, like you say, if you're going to win and win big and all begins with the big boys. OSU versus UT is an absolutely perfect example.
