Slapping it on a table is authorized as well. But one must ensure the crowd knows they are being challenged as a minimum.

I have a solid copper coin from JTF-160 that doesn't really "ting" like it should. It clacks along, but makes enough racket to let everyone know it's been dropped.

Due to my cheap ass nature I always tried to avoid these show downs.

My crowing coin achievement was with the 101st CSGM, my platoon sergeant dared me (the old you don't have a hair on your ass) to challenge the CSGM. He didn't have a coin on him.

When I joined the AF back in 95 the whole coin thing was a huge deal and was really a nerve racking as a broke A1C. I've really noticed in the last few years that not many people "coin check" like back in the day. I'll have to post some of my coins, my 2 favorite came from CMSgt Gary Coleman (USAFE Command Chief) and Gen Tommy Franks from my 1st deployment (thanksgiving day 2001). It's traditions like this I hope the military never gets rid of.

I worked for a Chief one time who would "coin check" during PT and whoever didn't have it bought drinks at the bar afterwards.

Never once witnessed a coin challenge. Everyone I know just has a cool display of them somewhere. I don't have any high ranking ones, but I have some really cool ones from my '11 deployment. I served as our movement NCO traveling all over Afghanistan. There was a you help us, we help you deal with all the different SOCOM units and I got a bunch of their deployment coins.

A buddy of mine has Gen Odierno's, and my SGM has the CJS.

Will you post pictures of those coins? Love to see the uniqueness of each one.

I have one for my career field from Korea that's, well, not appropriate for here. I seem to have misplaced it, I'll keep looking. But this is one I have from Stewart ANG, NY. I carry this one, I just like it.

Nice! Simple, yet poignant.

Also I'm supposed to be getting a 4* French General coin soon. We'll see if it actually happens.

I started collecting Nazi relics around 12 when my uncle gave me an Iron Cross from WWI with oak leaves. I in no way condone the Nazis but I am particularly fascinated by their period in history. I thought I would share my collection with fellow enthusiasts.

The first medal I was told was given to Rommel's division. I have found it online and it seems to check out. Worth around $500 to the right person.

Gestapo briefcase ID tag. Picked this up in Slovakia along with an old Wehrmacht helmet. $100

41/42 medal given to Germans for frozen flesh on the Eastern Front. Always liked this one because it shows how badly things went for Germany during that winter. $75

Iron Cross- Weimar Republic-- Oak Leaves--- $50

Iron Cross- I picked this up in Munich $100

Nazi party badge- Picked this up in an antique shop in London. These are becoming more rare each year. While there use to be a ton of them because everyone was a member of the party at one point, the supply has shrunken considerably over the last 20 yrs. $150

Mein Kampf- 50th Birthday Edition--- Received this as a graduation present from my Dad. Only edition with red thread. It's got a bit of damage but overall it;s in good shape $500

I don't carry coins. Most of mine are in some random drawer somewhere in the house. I never really got into getting coins.

Thanks man! I don't ever show it to anyone because I don't really have anyone to show that cares.
