I would want more context than what I've been able to google so far. It appears that the Navy was just highlighting this Sailor and his experiences in the Navy, which is far different than dressing in drag and putting on your uniform to go talk to high school kids.
This Sailor has a *unique* hobby which, to Gen-Z potential recruits, may be refreshing to see a potential career path that is accepting of how you spend your free time. As long as they aren't breaking the law...

I've recruited and served with all kinds of people that had all kinds of ways they spent their time outside of uniform. The Navy highlighted people from all walks of life as an experiment. I don't think I could be offended by this if I tried. If that's what it takes to lure recruits now god help us.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not offended by this. It's just a different world and different military these days, I don't think it would be for me if I were a younger man.
Definitely not aimed at you. I just saw a screenshot of this story appear on Fox News, so I know it will get all kinds of reactions from folks who assume drag queens are running around our high schools.
Traditionally, the military gets the most propensity to enlist in the breadbasket of America- conservative rural areas. If I were calling the shots for recruiting strategies, I would for sure change the message in those areas.
But ultimately, the military needs to promote the fact that you can still pursue your passions when you take the uniform off, especially in today's job market.
