So why should our immigration policy be different from Mexico? You do realize that few countries outside the Americas award citizenship to non citizens - nobody is yelling unfair that they don't allow anchor babies. Nothing wrong with tightening things up by implementing policies that plenty of other free countries have on their books. I imagine you've argued we don't need to be the world's policeman; we don't need to be the world's patsy either.

Why are your standards so low that you look to a corrupt government for your baseline, as opposed to your sense of right and wrong?

OK, if that offends you, then why should our immigration laws not incorporate major parts of what western Europe uses (you know the really developed people with the liberally enlightened or "progressive" social programs)? No birthright citizenship? Without birthright citizenship, there are no anchor babies; without anchor babies, there are no tentacles to snag family members and eventually extended family members into the fold. Then you never have to worry about separating illegal aliens from their US citizen brats.

Libs would never understand the reason for Ellis Island or for an orderly entry process. They prefer something more like open gates (no ticket checks and no security) at the Super Bowl - that way it's fair to all those who didn't buy tickets ... although their argument would be based on social economic terms like "weren't allowed to buy" or "couldn't afford" tickets.

I got off a plane in Botswana a few months ago ... they were checking passengers with non contact thermometers. Nothing like that at Atlanta .... says a lot when we don't even take the simple precautions that a third world country does. Sure it doesn't catch a disease in the body before the fever spikes, but it is a start.
