and that's not even the problem. it doesn't matter if the process is faster if the same number just ignores that part all together. Its not like they are kept in a waiting area the entire time. they are released into the US and then expected that they show up 5 years later. I don't see shortening that to 2 years or even a year is really going to fix anything.

if its necessary why not just make it a stand alone bill like the Rs had done back in the summer? you can't argue the political angle and completely ignore the same political game your side played.

people aren't rejecting it because it has some border stuff in it. they are rejecting it because the bill is straight up lying. Not even a majority of the funding in the bill is going to the border. its not a border bill. its a foreign aid bill with border bill pork slapped on.

First, he expressed his thoughts but has zero power to kill it. Sure is surprising that such a bipartisan bill (your words) could be killed so easily.

Next, that article calls it a "border bill" but 87% of that bill was foreign war funding. It seems that is what was actually killed not the tiny amount devoted to the border.

Last, what can't a separate bill be introduced that contains only that 13% off the "border bill"? That would be appropriately named and get a yes/no vote on the actual border on record. Do you believe the Dems want to go on record with strengthening the border security?
