Millions of Illegal Aliens From All Over The World Head For U.S. Border

Its well documented fact. I know you don't like it and it's embarrassing to Trump supporters who say on the one hand this is a critical issue that must be solved, but on the other hand pledge their fealty to the guy that blocked it.

But it definitely happened and has been discussed by several Republican congress people.
It wasn't a great bill to begin with. Nevermind that the only reason Democrats got behind it was the for the election year bump........ In fact they'd been on the full court press trying to convince everyone that the people against open borders were racists and there wasn't even an issue with illegal immigration to begin with only a few months before.

You left out a lot of very important contextualizing details. If you're going to call it one side for using illegal immigration as a political football you need to call everyone out equally or shred your credibility/intellectual honesty.

First of all, that's talking specifically about illegal immigrants. OP was about all immigration. Also, that's probably the most biased think tank on the matter.

Responsible research by the Petersen Institute, the Brookings Institution, and the congressionally-chartered National Academy of Science finds that immigration is a net economic gain for the nation and a net fiscal positive for the federal budget. This includes undocumented immigration. A University of California - Los Angeles analysis found that a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants would generate $1.5 trillion in gross domestic product growth over 10 years, more than $350 billion in tax revenue (more than enough federal funding required to cover every uninsured person in the United States through Medicaid for a year), and more than 370,000 jobs.

The Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement did not call witnesses from these research institutions. Instead, the majority sought the input of partisans like Steven Camarota, of the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as “an anti-immigrant hate group,”

BTW, my Dad is a conservative who has Fox News type opinions about immigration, but he was a research economist for the National Academy of Science, and he will tell you they do good work. Everybody knows CIS is a joke.

CIS is a racist hate group that uses widely discredited figures/estimates. Using them as a source is like using Lizzo for dieting advice...

The Senate must seriously consider the impeachment articles against Mayorkas

189,922 — that is the number of illegal crossings that occurred at our southern border in the month of February alone, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Not only is that number up 21% from last February, but it was also the highest February ever recorded in our history.

February’s record number of illegal crossings marked the seventh consecutive month of the highest number of encounters those months had ever seen. On top of this, there have been 36 straight months with higher encounters at the southern border than any month under former President Donald Trump’s administration.

These numbers are shocking, but unfortunately, they have become a regular occurrence under the leadership of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who has overseen the worst border crisis in our nation’s history.

On Feb. 13, the House of Representatives agreed to articles of impeachment against Mayorkas for his “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and his “breach of public trust.” The House is expected to send these articles over to the Senate. I firmly believe that the Senate must conduct a full impeachment trial for Mayorkas.

What/Who is CIS?

Center for Immigration Studies. Founded and ran by white nationalists. Far right group that is opposed to any (including legal) immigration. Pulls numbers with little to no support/incomplete analysis. Deemed a hate group.

I'm fully opposed to illegal immigration but I'm not using that group to support my position....

Biden’s Border Crisis: Examining the Impacts of International Cartels Targeting Indian Country

U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, Sub-committee on Oversight and Investigations

The mass migration crisis instigated by the Biden administration’s irresponsible immigration policies has caused incalculable harm to American communities, including those in Indian Country, even those far from the border. The mass catch and release policies have led to the release of more than three million illegal migrants, damaged the integrity of our immigration system, and exposed Americans to new national security and public safety threats – especially threats related to the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs. Further, the huge influx of migrants taking advantage of the opportunity to be released into the United States has so overwhelmed the Border Patrol and its local partners that it can no longer control vast stretches of the border, enabling the illegal crossers who want to avoid apprehension to violate the border with impunity. These policies have facilitated the entry of illegal drugs and also the cartel operatives who distribute them. The result has been a huge spike in deaths, overdoses, and poisonings from dangerous drugs distributed by the cartels and their accomplices. In addition, the Biden policies have enriched certain transnational criminal organizations, including Mexican and Chinese cartels and Central and South American gangs, to the point where these organizations represent a threat to civil society and the rule of law throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Farming/ranching/food producing industry is overwhelmingly red and by far is the biggest user of illegal labor....

If the Rs enforced the laws on the books for labor in those 3 industries, illegal immigration would be significantly cut.....

Immigration, just like gun control for the left, is just a talking/fundraising point for elections. They've had chances to fix and chose not to....

It is true..the Repubs or Dems could fix this overnite just by employment enforcement and penalties…but no denying that Dems make it much worse with incentives and ease.

It's like gun control for the Dems. They could have passed whatever they wanted in 2009-2010 but chose not to. They'd rather it be a talking point for elections than taking action.

Rs can cut illegal immigration immediately but they don't want to piss off farming, agriculture, and construction base by enforcing the rules....

You read through the bill and Congressional analysis?

I dont believe that for a tenth of a second. You heard it from some whiny Fox talking head and want it to be true so bad.

so racist, they even prepare testimony to Congress..give me a break. Labeled by the far left SPLC, which can be called a Communist org by the same standard as it had publishings in communist papers..SPLC is a hate group themselves.

There have been some extremely shady people who have testified in front of Congress. Racists, criminals, drug addicts have all testified....

Agree SPLC is just as bad but CIS was founded and run by a white nationalist...

I don't watch Fox, I actually prefer CNN for straight news from a domestic source but I don't trust their political analysis because of their slant.

What I do know is we aren't enforcing the laws on the books now, even the most logical, basic aspects of immigration law. Until we make even a half hearted attempt any new laws are just window dressing....... Political theatre. I've read through some of the bill........... And it immediately became clear all we really need to do is enforce the laws as written and clean up path to citizenship and emphasize the legal path and simplify it.

Believe what you want. I cheerlead for neither party....... And only one of us can say that.

Feel like commenting on the kill switch written into the Bill yet? This is the 9th time I’ve asked.

I’m going to go with ‘no’, as it is inconvienent to the narrative you continue to try and push.

Democrats had joined with Republicans to draft up a bill that would have really helped with this. Was all ready to go...

Then Trump called his minions in Congress and told them to block it because he doesn't want progress to be made prior to the election.
LOL

Iirc 13% went to border issues. It was a foreign war funding bill in an immigration wrapper. Dems thought they could shame enough into voting for it. If it's actually useful then pass it on its own merits. Shouldn't be too hard right? Meanwhile they can enforce the many rules on the books as a start

Dan Bongino said his government connections tell him that people close to Biden (not actually Biden) are legitimately worried about potential terrorist attacks linked to people that have come across the border during Biden’s time in office and it the fallout.

you mean it would have said a lot of words, given a lot of money away, and done nothing to fix the actual problem.

The only improvement was that there was a limit on the number of Mexicans or Canadians that could cross the border on any given day. a limit that the president could get rid of whenever he wanted. a limit that decreased over time, while increasing the president's ability to remove it.

if you aren't from Mexico or Canada there is no limit on how many can cross.

in truth the far better option would have been to flip that. no limit on Mexicans and Canadians, but all the others were limited.

It would have dramatically sped up asylum hearings so that instead of looking for people 5 years down the road when their case finally came up, it would have been just a few months.

You guys keep comparing this to what you think is the Trump plan of ZERO illegal immigrants coming in, which is a fool's errand and can never occur. Trump was thwarted by the courts a number of times when he tried to act as POTUS, and in fact Trump himself while in office called for legislation precisely to expedite these processes.

Until he feared it would have helped Biden to have it pass on his watch.

how was a law going to speed up a process in the courts?

and that's not even the problem. it doesn't matter if the process is faster if the same number just ignores that part all together. Its not like they are kept in a waiting area the entire time. they are released into the US and then expected that they show up 5 years later. I don't see shortening that to 2 years or even a year is really going to fix anything.

I haven't compared crap to Trump. actually yes I have. I compare Trump to feces all the time. He isn't my guy. you are right that he hasn't proposed any real fixes either, he just duped idiots on both sides with his make mexico pay for it rhetoric.

that doesn't make this bill any better. regardless of what Trump does this current bill doesn't address the major issues.
