The funniest (or saddest) of this whole defund discussion is the idiots including the media that say the police should be defunded and the money put used for social programs, sidewalks, etc... Thats not the way government works. Funds do not transfer between departments like that. If a department doesn’t use their allocated money the they don’t use it and the next year they get budgeted for less since they don’t need as much
Some will say good riddance or don't let the door hit you but he makes some good points and if we want to have "a national discussion" we need to listen to all sides
America, We Are Leaving
Not trying to be a smartass but what good points did he make?
If the author can't understand why the police are in the situation they're currently in, then he is beyond hope.
mental health treatment in this country (how it's changed)
general discipline of people
I also thing the Medical error point is interesting - it's like the 3rd leading cause of death but we just take without demanding reform.
I'd say if people can't see how the environment they work has changed then they too are beyond hope and we can't really have a conversation because people only see one side.
Lol you need to work in healthcare and see up close and the people police deal with usually are also sickThe isn't the first time I've seen the medical error point brought up in defense of the police. I dont think it holds much water when you consider that medical practitioners deal almost exclusively with sick people, which might explain why their "death toll" is much higher. And I have yet to hear of a group of doctors breaking down a person's door and shooting them while they sleep.
That doctors and nurses like police officers are regular people. Some stupid, some bullies, some make simple mistakes and some are blamed and assaulted everyday for things outside their control or that they are doing right
