Minutes: BHH and Powell

Barnes seems to value experience and Defense over Offense. The problem is our scoring droughts are what causes us to lose games. We have too many players on the floor that can’t score.
Hes ALWAYS been of that philosophy. He'll NEVER change or value scoring MORE than defense. NEVER! Which is sad because thd game now is all about scoring, scoring and scoring more. His time has come and gone.

This loss is on Barnes. We played with house money, but he had some highly questionable rotation management the entire 2nd half and we made 3 field goals the final 11:29 of the game. We had a 6 point lead and three straight possessions to try and extended it and we had an awful lineup on the court and Barnes waited till the lead was cut to 1 to call timeout and change the rotation. The Tide never looked back after that.

I just can’t defend Barnes anymore for his lack of faith in Powell or BHH. I refuse to accept “defense” as a legitimate answer considering the alternative is Victor Bailey.

This year Bailey was 4 missed shots from being a 33.3% 3-point shooter this season. It’s a small sample size.

Yes, but he missed those shots. That’s not how numbers work. He is also 4 missed shots away from being less than 20% on the season. See how that works? You can’t change stats to fit your narrative. It’s a number.

35% career 3-point shooter suggests that he’s not a 20% shooter. See how sample sizes work?

I have been giving Barnes the benefit of the doubt. He is just not a good coach. However, I am not for changing. Tennessee could do a lot worse. At least Tennessee usually makes the NCAAs.

I know how sample sizes work. But, you can’t use a career FG% as a crutch. This isn’t gambling. Bailey is shooting barely over 20% from the field this season, which is far more indicative of what the likely outcome of that last shot will be and NOT the career percentage.
