That's possible, but not probable. There just aren't many examples of NFL guards that tall. Dan Skipper (6'10") is the only one taller than 6'7" currently, and he was a tackle his entire college career. Then there are only 2 that stand at 6'7". Would he even be willing to switch to guard? That run blocking grade may improve if you get him playing in more of a box by moving inside instead of blocking quick DEs in space.
Hmmm so where does it say we really went after Nolen in the portal? Oh yeah, nowhere. Your Lame Kitten comment keeps looking worseAllow me to google for you again...
"With that said, Nolen has several other options. Tennessee and Michigan both heavily recruited Walter Nolen when he was a recruit, prior to him signing with the Aggies in the class of 2022. Those two programs, and Tennessee in particular, are under consideration once again, according to [Steve] Wiltfong. Wiltfong added that several other big-time programs, including multiple schools in the SEC, will get a look from Nolen and his family. Among the potential landing spots are Georgia, LSU, Oregon and Texas, per Wiltfong." - On3 reporting on Walter Nolen's potential landing spots

I’m interested where he plays. Bc he had a lot of success late in the year when they started using him as a 3 tech inside on pass rush situations. But they moved Baron there on 3rd downs anyway. So ig he could be re he guy. Still would like another veteran body but West looked good in the bowl gameTyre West looks like a suitable replacement.
I think West is a more talented Matthew Butler and is utilized the same way.I’m interested where he plays. I would bet that these high profile portal diva's try to introduce heavy hitter collectives into the conversation to leverage their name with the programs really in play. I guess it would look bad to let it leak out that we have zero interest in these guys. I don't know how anyone could sell Nolen as a fit in our locker room. Name one character comp in our DL room. I guess it is possible we could take the other stance and let it play out to help consume the other school's bank accounts on players we have no interest in. Not all athletically gifted players are value propositions for all schools. Just getting a portal trophy to hang on the wall is a bad use of schollie and money.Show me one shred of proof that Wiltfong knows more than anyone on this board. That he sits in on recruiting meetings at UT.
You can't. He's guessing just like the rest of us.
Way to deflect though.
Edit - I saw the quote from Walter Nolen Sr. with my own eyes stating that THEY reached put to several schools. Not once have you seen an official offer from UT, or even an offer for a visit.
It seems like you're the only "fanatic" here trying to push your false narrative.
If an OL doesn’t want to come here because they may have to do a couple more sprints in the summer, not sure I want him anyway.I listened to the Basillio episode where he talked about Elarbee. He rips him pretty good. As another poster said, Basillio said that the money is putting pressure on Heupel to get rid of Elarbee. I am not ready to go that far but they talked about something interesting regarding portal OL. And it ind of makes sense.
It goes back to Heupels offensive system. It’s not for just any OL. On the episode, they said OL in the portal don’t want to come here and run sprints. Meaning at TN the OL have to be in better physical shape cardio wise. That very well be the case as to why we are having difficulties landing guys in the portal.
Think about it. Say you are an OL that has been at a school for a couple of years and that offense is completely different than ours. Are you gonna want to go somewhere where the physical demands are greater? These aren’t excuses just things to consider. I wonder if Heupel is actually getting pressured about Elarbee though.

When it comes to basilio, he makes up more chit than a field full of geese. Still, I do think the topic of the OL style is a valid one, but it seems that a ton of teams run a fast paced offense. Maybe not like our pace, but still, pretty quick compared to teams like Michigan. And a lot of the names I think about seem to have pretty solid OL so I guess the distinction is that a young player is easier to convince that our style/pace of play is a good thing whereas a veteran player might not want to change late in the game and work as hard? Guess that's a valid point. Don't watch the NFL, but I suspect they aren't running a pace anywhere close to ours. Guess it's just the price we pay for choosing a coach and style of offense that's so unique in approach. Because of his crazy system, we can do more with less? No answer other than making sure we nail our evals and have exceptional coaches to develop the kind of OL we need to succeed under Heupel. Looks like we're about to find out if we have both, one or none of those on our coaching staff. Just hope Nico gets reasonable protection and stays healthy. Gotta be honest, tho. It appears Nico will be a hot topic when he is draft eligible. We're talking a lot of money. If UT can't provide a solid supporting cast, I'm not sure I'd not be looking for a better opportunity elsewhere. There's just too much at stake and too much to lose to be taking a beating in this conference week in and week out.I listened to the Basillio episode where he talked about Elarbee. I think it's deeper than that. They are being asked to move at a much faster pace in our offense which obviously requires them to be in better physical condition. But at the same time, they are being told by our competitors that it doesn't even prepare them for the next level because no one in the NFL plays at the pace that Tennessee does.If an OL doesn’t want to come here because they may have to do a couple more sprints in the summer, not sure I want him anyway.
We're talking about a coach or system that was 2nd in the SEC in rushing. I don't care star ratings or name recognition, etc. Give me top 5 rushing in the SEC and I'm good, particularly if we're saying some of these guys are below SEC standards. You lost me at Basillio.
If you want to get rid of Elarbee then you are talking about ditching Heupel. They are a system and Huepel has a coach he is totally comfortable with.
We had a top 10 NFL draft pick last year, being in the best shape you could possibly be in should/would never be a bad thing.I think it's deeper than that. So that is the fight we are up against. "Go to Tennessee and be pushed to your limit, physically, and not be prepared for what NFL football looks like."
Whether it's true or not is irrelevant if kids will believe what Bama, UGA, and Ole Miss staff's are telling them.
