Missed open throws with receipts

Loved to air it out and excelled on passes of 20-plus Air Yards. In 2022, Hooker completed 30 of 68 (44.1%) for 1,219 yards and 13 touchdowns with one pick. He threw a touchdown on 19.1% of such throws.

This could be a misleading stat... sometimes Joe throws is more than 20 yards laterally

Well…… all except this goofball
It's because no one else in the team can throw the ball. He's terrible and a liability for his team. Thank God our defense is next level. No way should he be on the team next year,if he is, he needs to be backup with a significant pay cut

If we had even an average defense, Joe Milton wouldn’t be the least bit issue.

The one down the left sideline was a slight miss, the one Keyton got hurt on was tight coverage, the one to Squirrel was a touch high. Hendon missed similar passes. I don't think Joe is as good as Hendon but the ones where it's overthrown by a mile to wide open guy were the problem. He definitely could be better but the playcalling is pretty terrible too so it's not doing anyone any favors.

It is honestly amazing, and something I’ve never seen before. The lengths some here will go to defending Milton is absolutely insane. Like knowing your girlfriend is a whore, but willing to fight anyone who says so. Risk your life to defend her honor. It really is baffling to me. I really just don’t get it. I’m assuming we are all Vol fans here, and want the best for our team, but the knee jerk reaction to, and absolute disdain for those who see joe as an inconsistent qb is just weird. I guess it’s just the entitlement class that I’ll never understand
Or the mindless coach-defending pumpers.

Why do people say this type of stuff? I just don’t get so many of our fans. What on earth makes you think he’s the best option? Nobody else has had a chance to play. And truthfully…I believe every other qb on the staff would hit a higher percentage of these throws than Milton. Many of the throws he misses are automatic for even a good highschool qb. Milton just is a good passer of the football. It’s not hard to recognize

what makes me say he’s the best option is that CJH, who knows more about how to play QB than you will ever know, says so. He sees them every day in practice.
But you, have never seen a practice and I’ll bet never played football beyond high school ( if you even ever played) have decided every QB on the staff would hit a higher percentage than Milton. Must be nice to be so smart.

I'm going to agree and disagree. Would we know who Hendon Hooker was if Joe Milton didn't get hurt. He didn't get benched, he got hurt and Hooker took it and never gave it back. To the question, is there a Hendon Hooker on the bench because we're it not for the injury, would coach have played Hendon?

We all got spoiled by our memories of Hendon and Hyatt connecting in epic completions for the ages, especially against Alabama. That was a once in a generation performance. Joe isn’t perfect but neither are your memories of 2022. I get frustrated by the misses just like anyone else; but good grief folks, he ain’t the second coming of JG. I still think Joe will have his game for the ages before the season is done.
I think he was on track for a great one today until he got that knee injured. His rhythm and accuracy dropped off noticeably after that.
Give the man a chance.

Edit: There are some Defensive Coordinators around the SEC in a cold sweat tonight watching the replay of that 81 yard TD run. If Joe ever gets comfortable running as much as Hendon did, watch out.
