Missed open throws with receipts

Hype thinks he can save Joe, and if he did replace him, might ruin Joe's future. Loyal to a fault, IMO. Note: IMO. (before the backlash).
IMO you are wrong, CJH will make a change if needed. But i refuse to believe he will put a freshman out there to be killed behind this offensive line. Case and Point when nico came in. Let Coach Heup do his job.

Nobody's preventing Hype from doing his job. THIS, is a Forum. Nothing more.

It is honestly amazing, and something I’ve never seen before. The lengths some here will go to defending Milton is absolutely insane. Like knowing your girlfriend is a whore, but willing to fight anyone who says so. Risk your life to defend her honor. It really is baffling to me. I really just don’t get it. I’m assuming we are all Vol fans here, and want the best for our team, but the knee jerk reaction to, and absolute disdain for those who see joe as an inconsistent qb is just weird. I guess it’s just the entitlement class that I’ll never understand
If one was drafting a QB for his own team, I wonder where Milton would be in the pecking order compared to the other 13 QBs in the SEC, not including all of the Devision 5 teams. Night be a good "Poll" question.

You are forgetting the Infamous "Crystal Ball". However, Hype is pulling so hard for Joe (Understandable, given their history and that huge arm) that barring another injury ; He will not make a change. Stubborn as Captain Smith.

There is no reason to make a change yet.

It may become necessary down the road, but we are not there yet.

what makes me say he’s the best option is that CJH, who knows more about how to play QB than you will ever know, says so. He sees them every day in practice.
But you, have never seen a practice and I’ll bet never played football beyond high school ( if you even ever played) have decided every QB on the staff would hit a higher percentage than Milton. Must be nice to be so smart.

Every QB misses throws. Every coach misreads what a player can do. Sometimes, for whatever reason a few players absolutely raise their game when the lights come on. Just so so at practice but amazing in games. Coaches do miss this. Fulmer wouldn’t play Lewis for several games because he had shortcomings in practice. Butch wouldn’t play Dobbs. Walk on’s earning scholorships and even starting.
I think I know (another NIL problem) but why is Moore not getting back up time. He has lots of game experience and may be better option this year if Milton goes down. He may be a ”lights on” type of player.

Moore does not have lots of game experience. Goodness.

As has been stated here way too many times, this is his 6th year. When in hell do you think he can start hitting more of them ??????
See Crompton, Jonathan (5th year but basically the same thing)

When the light comes on, it comes on... you just have to find a balance between the QBs strengths and the playcalling.

I think we should be more of a running team this year. Its clearly our strongest position group.

My apologie. I though Moore was a Sr and got playing time (not a stater) at UCF. I will delete my VN account and never post again. Again, sorry to offend all of the experts dedicated to Vol football.
GordonC, I looked and could not find a way to delete my account. Is it ok with you if I just log out and never log back in?

It's not trolling. It's what every coach college and pro sees and that's the narrative on our QB. You act like I don't want him to complete these throws. I do but he's gotta do better than 1-7 on deep throws
Your right. It isn't trolling. It's whining.

Go cheer for Colorado like all the rest of the bandwagon fans.

Oh wait. Maybe OSU or the other UT.

Lol, that last pic was CLEARLY the WR slowing up mid-route. I guess that's why you did screenshots and not video timestamp URLs.

I'm sure someone is better at this than me at posting clearer pics but....
This offense gives the QB 5-6 chances each game were your guy is wide open-5-10 yards past your man. That is highly unusual and a credit to coach H. Our QB, whether you like him or not, has to complete at least 50%-60% of those throws. Remember, they are almost uncovered. Hooker did a stellar job at making teams pay for their mistakes. Joe is not. These are gimme points and we easily left 14-21 points on the table. These are huge. We all watch FB. How many times do you see other teams WR running this wide open? Maybe 2, possibly 3. Our coach has 5-6 each game and we are missing them. It's crucial and it's the difference between the #1 offense and the #40th.
If we improve, then we will win the national championship. Great!

Honestly the only egregious mistake by Milton yesterday was missing Squirrel over the middle for a TD. It was also obvious the weird wrap-up affected his knee and play. He was on the money in the first half, took weird hit, then was off for the third quarter.
More frustrating than the overthrows, Milton also continues to be weak at reading the defensive sets and knowing when to check out of plays, also when to call his own number on RPO's. There was a series down in the red zone Saturday where it was so obvious that UTSA was bringing the house. If Milton had kept the ball and ran to the right he practically could've walked into the end zone. But instead he handed it off up the middle and of course it got stuffed. He strictly adheres to whatever is called from the sidelines and never improvises.

You don’t know what Heup’s philosophy is. You’re insinuating that he won’t make a QB change because it would be an admission that he was wrong about Milton. That is crazy talk. To “guarantee it 100%” is just silly.
You might be right on your first point. We don’t know what Heupel is thinking. But I am absolutely right on that guarantee. There is no way Heupel watches Milton and doesn’t question if he’s made a mistake by putting all of his chips in on him. Milton is doing a a terrible job at the most fundamental thing. A quarterback Hass to be able to do… Complete easy, intermediate throws to wide-open receivers.

I think Heupel just took for granted that Milton would be able to complete those very simple, basic passes at a really high percentage. Most any D1 quarterback can make a bunch of these passes he is missing.

If you think he is watching these games and thinking to himself… Yeah, the quarterback is operating had a really high level, you are crazy. He is saying that type of stuff to instill confidence in Milton and the rest of the team. But if you listen closely… He has also made 15+ comments directed at Milton saying we need to make better throws. He has said that exact same line in every single post game session this year. Did you ever hear him say that about hooker?

Agree. And a lot of the little things he does so poorly. During the Florida game, we kept having to burn time out because he would have everything set based on the defense they were showing. Once our guys got sat with under 10 seconds, left on the play clock… Florida would adjust. At that point, you don’t have time to adjust to their adjustment yet over and over again Milton would try to do so. We were screaming at the TV at my house just run the play!

He just can’t manage all the information necessary to be a great quarterback. And I’d even add to that… He can’t make the very basic/ordinary throws either. The guy only even looks better than JG because he has had such incredible coaching and plays in such a spectacular offensive system.

Those missed wide open throws lost us the Pitt game back in 2021.

Also the Ole Miss game. There was a pass in the end zone that Milton threw near the end of the game, I forgot who the receiver was, that if it was just slightly less out of his reach, he probably would've caught it and we would've won the game.

I’ve said the same thing since Coach first got here. Every game this happens, WR is wide open. Some of the misses weren’t all on JM against UTSA. Receivers have to make the catch
