Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet

Just don't understand how you loose a plane with the technology we have.

This is caused by Obamacare. Follow the logic;

1) Obama freaking out over website ignores Benghazi.
2) Putin interprets Obama's failure to kill 50,000 random Egyptians, or to re-invade Iraq to find the WMD, as weakness.
3) Putin invades Crimea on his way to Paris.
4) US spy planes too busy with watching Putin to see Malaysian plane blow up.

Ergo, inability to find plane is because of Obama.

Can't be because of Obamacare. If that as the case, half the passengers would still be waiting on the ticketing program to load and those lucky enough to get online would get boarding passes for their dogs. The other half would have their tickets cancelled before getting to the gate.

Ironically, this actually makes more sense than most of your posts.

What was the risk here?

On one hand he could have been thought of as a pitiful, laughing stock, forum troll. On the other, he could have been - wait, he has no where to go but up.

Making a terror prediction when a plane crashes mysteriously is not exactly a bold move, Cotton.

Somewhat back on the original topic, the terror angle is still at the forefront:

US to Get Fingerprints of Malaysia Airline Passengers With Stolen Passports - ABC News

Fingerprints and photos of two men who boarded the doomed Malaysia Airlines passenger jet are being sent to U.S. authorities so they can be compared against records of known terrorists and criminals.

The cause of the plane's disappearance has baffled investigators and they have not said that they believed that terrorism was involved, but they are also not ruling anything out.

How close does someone have to be to hear the black box pinging?

I thought we had quite sensitive listening devices.

Anywhere between 5 to 10 miles.

At this point, a pilot suicide seems as likely as terrorism.

If the plane exploded at 30,000 feet, they should have found debris by now.

Yes. If the plane had broken up at 30,000+ feet it would have a gigantic debris field.

Could it have been shot down?

Again, would have been a huge debris field.

If the pilot simply decided to splash the plane in the sea, would that be considered terrorism? Or suicide?

Suicide.

This plane crashed and the remaining survivors are on an island guarded and protected by Hurley.

Funny you should mention that as nobody has even entertained the possiblity that this plane was taken and could in fact be sitting at some random aiport with all it's passengers and crew being held hostage.

Actually several of us have posited inter-dimensional transport :)

Hmm

Azharuddin said the search includes northern parts of the Malacca Strait, on the opposite side of the Malay Peninsula and far west of the plane's last known location. Azharuddin would not explain why crews were searching there, saying, "There are some things that I can tell you and some things that I can't."

To me that means more about speculating where the pilot would have taken the plane if he took it off course. It doesn't indicate they have actual new information they are keeping from the public. If that were the case, then the entire search would now be in the Malacca Straits.

Nevertheless, that is an interesting article and helps explain the challenges involved.

Hard to know on the VN forums who is qualified and who isn't to speak with certainty on any subject. So I ask my question with utmost sincerity.

Is what coug saying even possible? An aircraft can't just land at any random airport, can it? And why wouldn't it be seen on radar flying to another airport? Aren't there detailed flight plans submitted before take off?

If this is plausible, it's kinda blowing my mind.

It is plausible. Pilots can deviate off a flight plan and there are certainly air strips in SE Asia that someone could land in without too many people noticing. I don't think it is very likely that we would have heard nothing about it by now. If it was a hostage situation, why wouldn't someone be making some demands as soon as they landed?

The two Iranians traveling on the stolen passports were identified:

Iranian asylum-seekers used stolen passports on Malaysia Airlines flight | Fox News

Interpol said Tuesday that the two passengers who used stolen passports to board a Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared early Saturday morning were Iranians seeking asylum in Europe.

Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble identified the men as Pouri Nourmohammadi, 19, and Delavar Seyedmohammaderza, 29. Noble said that the two men had traveled to Malaysia from Tehran using Iranian passports, but had secured stolen Italian and Austrian passports in Kuala Lumpur for their journey to Beijing and Amsterdam, for which both had tickets and planned to travel together.

From the Fox News article:

“The more information we get, the more we are inclined to conclude it is not a terrorist incident,” [Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble] said.

Saw that, but I'd still not rule anything out at this point. Perhaps those two aren't involved, but doesn't mean others that aren't identified yet could be responsible.

I've never ruled it out. Just don't think it has been or ought to be seen as the prime reason this plane went down.

Wasn't implying you were TRUT. I personally think that mechanical, pilot error and terrorism all take about an equal share in potential reason since the wreckage can't be found right now. Until the wreckage can be studied, I'd stop short of making the claim that terrorism probably wasn't a factor if I were Interpol or any investigative agencies.
