Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet

I have no idea if the oil worker is credible, but that's outside of the search area, isn't it?

Well outside and possibly on a course towards the Philippines. Which could make the terrorist theory a lot more credible. Plenty of terror groups and sympathizers in that area.

If the plane was already on fire it doesn't make much difference where it might have be bound.

Supposedly the Vietnamese checked into this story, but I wonder how much searching they did?

Probably didn't give it much thought as the Malaysians were pretty confident in the first couple of days the crash was in the Gulf of Thailand.

Of course, now it's a bit different.

As to the fire, supposedly the letter states the fire went out as the aircraft went up.

I would think they would take his information seriously. Depending on the exact flight path, if they were originally staying over international waters, rather than fly over Viet Nam, then this would put the plane along a path that went up the Viet Nam coast. 270* would be due West of the oil platform so I would think it was inside or just outside the search area.

Also, he says the object he saw was on fire but the flames went out. If there was a sudden and catastrophic fire on board, due to mechanical malfunction or nefarious action, it could explain the lack of data.

This is a day or two old, but it doesn't appear like there's a coordinated search east of the Vietnamese coast.

One would think that they would exhaust all leads, especially one so specific. Even if it was just a phone call to the oil rig to talk to this guy.

Not like he could "laugh maniacally" and split town.

Malaysia Airlines MH370 searchers scramble ships after commercial flight reports debris field off Vietnam | National Post

Vietnam’s Maritime Search and Rescue Services was scrambling ships to a debris field after a commercial Cathay Pacific airliner Monday en route to Hong Kong reported a “large amount of metal debris.”

A vessel in the area confirmed material was floating in the ocean about 92 kilometres off the southeastern coast of Vietnam in the South China Sea. The debris is located about 520 kilometres northeast of a missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370′s last known radar position.

Which is pretty darn close to those Lat/Long coordinates...

Not sure what ever turned up though or how strong the ocean currents are in that particular areas.

I still think the Big Mother Ship from outer space came & got her at that local time. There's no evidence or parts from a plane crash anywhere to be found. There's only questions left behind to ask what the hell's going on with the disappearance of a huge airplane that nobody seems to be able to find a smidgen of evidence it even existed.

Hell of a long way out of Malaysian airspace though. I'm leaning more towards they're embarrassed because they totally lost it.

I was thinking surface fire rather than air. If thats not the case, then I am putting all my eggs in the alien abduction theory basket.

So for now I'm trusting the guy on the oil rig, I really can't see how a SAM is possible, outside of murder.

There's too many conflicting accounts kicking around, and there's very few commonalities between any of them. Gives me a headache,.

Iranian Teenager Pouria Nourmohammadi on Lost MH370 ‘Not a Terrorist’ - TIME

Pouria Nourmohammadi, a 19-year-old Iranian aboard Flight MH370 with a stolen passport who was planning to reach Germany, wrote "I'm Safe" on Facebook hours before the plane vanished over the weekend

Nourmohammadi had earlier hinted he would be going on a long, life-changing trip. “Because of some problems I will deactivate my account. Friends, seriously, if I’ve done any of you a bad turn, forgive me because maybe …” he posted on his Facebook page on Feb. 24.

It was only when he started posting pictures of himself in Malaysia at popular Kuala Lumpur landmarks like the Petronas Towers that some of his friends realized he had left Iran.

“So you’ve gone as well?” wrote one on March 4. “Will you ever return?”

“No,” replied Nourmohammadi.
