Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet

I think the lack of any cohesion between the parties involved is what's making this seem off kilter, as opposed to some deep international coverup.

Whence comes the estimate that the object in the satellite photo is 79x70 feet? The Chinese?

Surely they have a better resolution photo.

Chinese don't want us to know how good their resolution is. At the same time, they wouldn't want to be embarrassed if the "floating object" is not the wreckage. I think they know this is it and the poor photo is a subtle disclosure.

Probably right, but I imagine they gave better resolution photos to the Malaysians and just released the fuzzy stuff to the public.

They do. Some speculate china is trying to conceal some of their tech. Hence the blurred pic

No doubt.

I heard a few people on TV, though, saying that something that size is too big to come from the plane. Which made me wonder where the size estimate came from.

Yep. Still not adding up. I'm surprised we have not confirmed yes or no yet. The Chinese photo was breaking public news at about 4:30 eastern, 5 hours ago. Daylight there now.

I don't have WSJ access but this looks interesting

U.S. Investigators Suspect Missing Airplane Flew On for Hours - WSJ.com

Edit: Partially reprinted here Missing Malaysia jet may have flown on for hours - The Wall Street Journal - MarketWatch

U.S. investigators suspect that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 stayed in the air for about four hours past the time it reached its last confirmed location, according to two people familiar with the details, raising the possibility that the plane could have flown on for hundreds of additional miles under conditions that remain murky.

Aviation investigators and national security officials believe the plane flew for a total of five hours based on data automatically downloaded and sent to the ground from the Boeing Co. 777’s engines as part of a routine maintenance and monitoring program.
