You know, I was under the impression they were technologically backwards as well, but their military is reasonably up to date with some advanced designs. A mix of Gen 4 and 4.5 fighters and a capable land component.

Their main fighters are 18 D's with an average of 200,000,000 hours on them lol. I think they are also still flying MiG29's

And Su-30MKKs and the latest versions of the BAE Hawk. And the Hornets are upgrades.

Either way, they spent some coin on their military, I just would find it hard to believe they wouldn't have a decent ground radar set or two.

I play Battlefield 4 like everyday is my last day...doesn't mean I am parachuting from helicopters onto buildings in downtown orlando with an RPG and taking out tanks.. :good!:

I'm a counter strike guy myself.

Never felt the need to plan a bomb or rescue hostages, irl.

The stolen for later use theory seems so far fetched given the effort required and the much easier alternatives to serve the same purpose.

I tend to think the second theory you posit is correct, but one wonders why go to the trouble of turning off transponders and other data relays, then flying for 5-7 more hours, only to crash it. Same thing: a lot of effort for no point.

One thing I've only heard a whiff of is wondering if the claims from radar about seeing the plane later are correct. My understanding is that these were just fleeting glances and that there was no effort made to identify whatever it was that was seen. So I wonder if these momentary glimpses were even of this plane.

If they weren't, and if we are dealing with the crew and everyone on board becoming incapacitated by lack of O2 due to depressurization, then perhaps the plane kept going but for whatever period just plain north, on its original path, rather than turned and showing up later for a moment west and south of where it otherwise would have been.

I guess my point is I wonder how reliable these radar images are and I wonder whether they might be of something else.

Supposedly ACARS was disabled but not completely so it was still somehow sending out hourly pings.

I heard they were still using flip phones.

The plane this pilot was in charge of is missing and ether crashed or LANDED some where.

If he had his sim set up to practice landings on remote short runways ..you damm right that's relevant!

My next conspiracy;

The German intelligence hijacked the plane to start a new Asian war. Using that pretext the German government starts massively investing in German military power and quickly returns to it's nationalistic tendencies. Six months from now Berlin will declare they need, "Living space" and we'll see the 4th Reich start. Moscow grows concerned and launches a war against NATO to combat the rising neo-fascists in Berlin.

So yeah top neo-Nazis buds.

I am immigrating to Germany.

At least nine people - tuna fishermen, farmers and villagers - in Kelantan have made reports to police about seeing lights in the sky and some said they heard the loud noise of an engine.

Did these Malaysian tuna fisherman see missing flight MH370 flying low over the Gulf of Thailand as it tried to stay off radar? | Mail Online
