Mississippi State Postgame Report

So what I have got from all of this.. Golden is our best player, but he costs us most of our losses, but he plays decent, but he plays really good, but he will also keep us from the postseason.

According to volfan whatever his name is, that is what I've said. Which isn't true.

Golden, in our last five games, has been our best player. I'm not exactly sure who our best player is overall (hopefully Jarnell in a month).

5. Speaking of Cam Tatum, he is forcing things wayyyyyyy too much. He has to realize his strength on offense. The 3 ball.
Heck yes! Tatum, when he drives, needs to look to pass, not shoot. Floaters and contested layups never fall for him. I'd still usually want him to shoot threes when Golden is in the game though.

I think Tatum was given a lot of responsibility this game when Golden wasn't on the floor, and with the way he was shooting, it obviously didn't turn out well.

Denial - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You said he played decent. Then you said he played decent offensively against duke.

How can you not see that you changed your story.

Not my fault you can't understand me.

Why is this such a big deal to you. Why, in the last week, is this the only reason you come into the basketball forum over what I allegedly said or didn't say that literally has no impact on anything?

Again, let it go.

It's hard to argue that point guard play hasn't affected this team. Ball handling at that position has been a stumbling point this year. Golden is a solid player, but he's got room for improvement. It's a prerequisite for good PG play.

In the games between DUKE-ETSU Golden went

42 assists - 22 turnovers- was the leading scorer or second leading scorer in all but four games and in 2 of them he was third.

missed opportunities:
1. 3 on 1 break -2nd half
2. Woolridge (all-alone) under the basket in 1st half.
3. McBee hitting the 3 that was negated because golden
either stepped OB or his bounce pass hit the line.
4. layups and point blank misses - too many to name

AND did anyone see the bs call at the end of the womens game @ co-rupt arena?
just total bs with the officials tonight.

and Bost is a thug. I really don't think they go far - to much one on one - a good team will punish them - they only beat us at home playing 8 on 5 by 4.

Yeah, that flop at the end of the womens game was bad.
Every replay showed there was not a foul.

We missed a lot of easy baskets in the mens game.

Agreed, but to say that it will keep this team out of the postseason 8/12 games into the season is absurd.

Actually, it was 43/26, and that's not a good Ast/TO ratio for a PG.

Not too mention he shot 35.2% from the field, and played bad d.

i will say this. i havent been a fan of Cuonzo because frankly there hasnt been much to be a fan of. But after watching Florida and the State today i am starting to like him more and more (no homo). one thing seems certain- his team seems to play with heart. hope we can continue on this path of improvement. Beat Kensucky!!!

A little premature but I don't think it's unreasonable. We were a team that looked (and continues to look) like a bubble team at best. And PG play cost this team some games that should have been automatic W's. This team is a long way from making the tournament, and those losses will certainly ding us when it comes to decision time.

I'm optimistic that this team may continue to develop and gel. The conference schedule is all that more important now.

It really is that simple.

Yet you keep saying this team has no talent. Which one is it? Are you going to blame the whole team losing on one player all year next year?

They don't have a very talented team. With Stokes, and hopefully Golden, Maymon, and McRae develop that will change.

Where did I blame one player? I didn't.

Not my fault you don't have reading comprehesion.

Thanks for the postgame report, zjcvols. I was at the hockey game tonight and was keeping up on my phone.

From looking at the boxscore, we got nothing from Tatum. 0-7 from the field and we lose by 4 with a chance to win it? Sh*t, never would've thought that. I saw where we were down by 10 most of the 2nd half and made a run to have a chance to win it. Never would've thought we would have a chance to win at Miss St this year especially with Tatum MIA and Richardson scoring 0 points and was 0-4.

It appears we have played some hellacious defense the last two games. Miss St just scored 88 points in a loss at Ark on Sat. I hope it holds up on Sat. Free throws were 17-7. Some home cooking? Maymon fouled out. That couldn't help.

Hopefully, the team won't be tired from getting back late tonight provided the weather doesn't delay them. ESPN can shove the Thu-Sat night sh*tfests up their asses.
