Mississippi State Postgame Report

They don't have a very talented team. With Stokes, and hopefully Golden, Maymon, and McRae develop that will change.

Where did I blame one player? I didn't.

Not my fault you don't have reading comprehesion.

I don't have reading comprehension, but you are the one who kept changing his sentences to prove your point.

Do I have to keep going back to the same thing over and over? You said "Point guard play will cost this team a birth in the post season."(close to that) How is that not blaming one player?

Thanks for the postgame report, zjcvols. I was at the hockey game tonight and was keeping up on my phone.

From looking at the boxscore, we got nothing from Tatum. 0-7 from the field and we lose by 4 with a chance to win it? Sh*t, never would've thought that. I saw where we were down by 10 most of the 2nd half and made a run to have a chance to win it. Never would've thought we would have a chance to win at Miss St this year especially with Tatum MIA and Richardson scoring 0 points and was 0-4.

It appears we have played some hellacious defense the last two games. Miss St just scored 88 points in a loss at Ark on Sat. I hope it holds up on Sat. Free throws was 17-7. Some home cooking? Maymon fouled out. That couldn't help.

Hopefully, the team won't be tired from getting back late tonight provided the weather doesn't delay them. ESPN can shove the Thu-Sat night sh*tfests up their asses.

My pleasure.

Tatum did nothing tonight. None of our wings did offensively.

Defense was good, not great. They did a pretty good job, but, too many open looks. Richardson shut down Dee Bost. And there was some home cooking. Maymon was going to have a 20-10 game if he wasn't in foul trouble. He was on tonight.

Agree.

I did not say he was shooting good. I said "Who else was shooting good In them games brah?" Meaning who else was shooting better in the games in question.

"Who else" in the context of that is meaning that you are saying Golden was shooting good.... But nobody on the team was.

i blame this loss of mcbee, mcrae, and tatum. i wont thrown richardson into the mix here because he played good hard defense and he was the reason bost was in foul trouble early. the other 3 though provided nothing for this team and are as much to blame for goldens struggles as he is. golden is HAVING to push it and probably a reason for some of his turnover because he knows the other guards simply are not going to score. very frustrating!!!

your maymon point is terrible...dee bost was in foul trouble and nearly missed the whole first half which probably had him out of sync...and when he was in he broke down the d countless times...home cooking was in effect but we also missed plenty of bunnies

Excellent write up zjc! Pretty sure you touched on everything.

Props to Kara Lawson! I know it's such a homer thing to say but I really like listening to her. You can tell she has a really high basketball IQ.

Now to the game.....

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure McRae drained a 3 and then got a layup? I haven't looked at the box score but I'm at least 100% he got a layup (maybe an assist from Hall??)

Cam Tatum needs to see nothing but the bench. He does exactly what I've been preaching, ATTACK the rim. The only problem was the two 6'9/10 guys standing in his way. The thing with Tatum is he understands what Martin wants to do. He does a good job of keeping his emotions in check but he simply makes bad plays! 3 or 4 times last night, he absolutely killed the momentum. We stayed around that 9-10-11 point range for awhile in the middle of the second half. SOmething good would go for us and he would end up screwing it up. Richardson isn't the shooter that Cam is but obviously that aint saying much because Richardson is light years ahead of him on defense.

Golden is a man, no other way to put it. McRae, you gotta show up.

I don't agree. If Maymon stays in the game, we continue feeding the post. By feeding the post, Sidney goes out VERY early in that game. I think we beat State by 6 if Maymon wasn't in foul trouble. Terrible touch fouls called on him.

Richardson was in Dee Bost face all night long. You do realize he was held under his average and got almost half of his points because of weak 1-in-1 freethrows?
He had that one clutch 3 but Richardson wasn't on him then.

You act as if we only have 1 PG.

8. The only thing that would have made our home game vs KY more of a longshot this year would have been if KY had a full week off. Playing on the road late Thursday night before a noon Saturday game against an NBA team is crap. The Thursday night time slot is nice for the league, but they need to schedule around it better.

The Pac-12, unless they are doing things differently than the did with 10 teams, has everyone play on Thursday and Saturday every week. And, they have travel "partners." For example, if Oregon is at USC on Thursday, they will be at UCLA on Saturday, while Oregon State plays UCLA and then USC. The only time a team doesn't play two leagues games in a week is when they are playing against their travel partner.

It is by far the fairest and most student-athlete friendly basketball schedule among the "BCS" leagues.

i was kind of surprised it seemed like about the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game golden was on bost instead of richardson. i know richardson was sort of in foul trouble i believe but still he had done such a great job of frustrating bost all night.
