In tours through every WCBB site with a pulse, the closest I have found to a non-"classless" site is likely the Stanford board, whose fans usually keep things in control. If any Vol or Husky fans are even 1% honest, they would not put either the VolNation \ Summitt or the Boneyard sites anywhere near the top of the list for class, nor would the Notre Dame site be up there, and the CockyTalk site isn't too trashy but the WCBB fans haven't had a couple decades worth of passion to get themselves all ugly yet. The major team sites are ones with passionate demanding fans of many different backgrounds with colorful ways of expressing their thoughts, and Vol fans were quite willing to say nasty stuff about Griner and her appearance, and Boneyard fans will pile on to insult even their own all-American players if they think the player should lose some pounds even if her stats are spectacular. And getting banned is common fate on certain sites where speech is cheap and often classless. If you're somehow suggesting that you would never read a classless post on 'the boneyard' (UConn fan site), there have been countless posts over the last 10 years on that site which have not only speculated on Pat Summitt's sexual orientation (with zero proof that she was gay - just mindless and childish rumor mongering) but posts that have also made light of and joked about her Alzheimer's diagnosis.
Never let it be said that UConn fans are above launching mean spirited and personal attacks against those who have dared to challenge the dominance of their beloved basketball team on the court and the integrity of their coach off of it. A UConn fan coming on another site to call the fan of another team classless? Really?
So no, a fan base that proclaims itself to be the paragon of class is deluded. Likewise however, when posters start throwing the "ugly" and "gross" descriptions around about women's basketball players, that's going the trash route. Why not head to a cheerleader fan site instead of subjecting basketball players to the slime?
