Your thoughts on a quick inside shuffle pass or draw to keep the LBs honest?
This.
You’re right. The MLB stayed home in gap assignment. They only rushed him on run assignment. Typically a shuttle pass works on over pursuit in the middle.

It was worth a try, but honestly, the defensive push was so quick it would be very difficult for Fant to make the edge. Fant was being outpaced by the LBs covering him yesterday.

I live in Missouri. Similar to some of y'all that live on the west side of the great state of Tennessee, I occasionally see people wearing black and gold. More often than not, I see it hanging on racks for sale with nobody buying it.

That being said, I will say that despite my wearing Tennessee gear almost every day to work (I do wear band/concert shirts sometimes), I have yet to have one single Mizzou fan do any form of chirping at me about it. After the absolute thrashing they received from the Vols at their place last year (I was in attendance, it was GLORIOUS to see their fans leaving midway through the 1st quarter), they know what's coming; and since they just gave their coach an extension, what's going to continue happening.

I don't want the guys to just beat Mizzou. A win is nice, great, and all that jazz.......this needs to be a reminder of who we really are and who they never will be again. This needs to be like last year, completely over and done with by the middle of the first quarter. This needs to be an absolute thrashing, but not because of my fandom behind enemy lines, but because it's Senior Night at Neyland. Those gentlemen have absolutely exemplified the saying on the sign that they touch prior to every game: "I will give my all for Tennessee today". Those seniors have absolutely been through hell, and have made it through the fire. This is their last game in Neyland Stadium, and they, more than anyone else, deserve this win.

The phrase "Vols by fitty" has been bandied about all season, mostly in a joking manner. It's time that it comes to fruition, for our seniors.

Vols 70
Mizzou 13 (garbage time TD against the 14th stringers and walk-ons).

I feel bad for Missouri fans sometimes. Their program should be better and they probably don't get the respect they deserve. Interestingly, our series is tied right now so if we win this Saturday, we will lead the series. That tells you how much we have struggled the last 10 years or so.

You can bet after yesterday Mizzou will do what they can to bring pressure. Hope I see screens, quick slants and wheel routes to counter their pass rush.

We gotta win out. We’ve gone from hoping for a bowl game to being back in the Natty convo. If we win out and win big, we could face them rich dawgs again
All things considered, all of this is remarkable. No matter what happens in the post season, Tennessee is back.

VOLS did not exploit the GA pass rush. They should have been better prepared.

Outcoached. I love our staff, but UGA had a plan and executed it all day. We did not adjust and they owned us. Would love to have another shot from the perspective of that whippin'.

I mentioned this in another thread. There is no offensive scheme that will ever work when the o line can’t block or protect the QB.

GA brought more numbers, plus our backs don't block well. They played physical man coverage most of the day. They have the athletes to get it done on the back end, and did! Hooker missed almost every open deep shot.
Our OL is far far improved. They dominated Bama because Bama tried numbers in the backend and thought the front 4 could get pressure. GA has better athletes IMO, but the aggressive blitz packages overwhelmed our OL, TE, & RBs protection. We did not make adjustments that would exploit such a scheme. Thus we got owned.

I believe many Vols fans underestimate Missouri. They simply aren't the same team we stomped last season. They did better against Georgia than we did. They did a more thorough job against Florida than we did. Any team that takes them for granted or lightly, does so at their own risk. These tigers have claws, and bared fangs. The Vols better bring a Lahu tribal mentally along for this game.
My brotha, while I don't disagree with your main point about not taking Missouri too lightly, you also said, "They did a more thorough job against Florida than we did." Just to be clear, they lost to Florida; we beat Florida. ???

Vols need to get their swagger back Saturday. Early start could lessen the impact of the crowd. Hopefully, the pressure of #1 and Heisman talk are no longer a distraction. Go have fun and win .

Nope, bro, they held Florida's offense in check better than we did. You can lose and still do some good.

Have not watched them a time this year. However, traditionally Missouri can play a really awkward style. If you do end up in a mud fight with them at the end, Missouri kids are good at grabbing, wrestling, mucking around. A lifestyle learned on mid-west farms with enormous winds. Hills protect some areas, but once you get over around Kansas border....whosh whosh whosh
