I believe many Vols fans underestimate Missouri. They simply aren't the same team we stomped last season. They did better against Georgia than we did. They did a more thorough job against Florida than we did. Any team that takes them for granted or lightly, does so at their own risk. These tigers have claws, and bared fangs. The Vols better bring a Lahu tribal mentally along for this game.
They've hit the under on 8 of their 9 games this year, all but the season opener against LA Tech. W/the exception of Kansas State in Week 2 (40-12) nobody has really blown them out, but they haven't looked especially good in any games this year. Their best was a 26-22 loss to Georgia in which they scored an FBS season high of 26 points.
Other than that, it's been
12 - KS State
14 - Auburn
17 - Florida
17 - Vanderbilt (W)
10 - South Carolina
17 - Kentucky
Mizzou has 6 passing TDs all season, so fewer than half of what Jalin Hyatt has; 2 to Dominic Lovett their leading receiver, 2 to Luther Burden (5-Star, #1 WR in'22 Class per 247 composite), and 1 each to their RB and TE. They have 15 rushing TDs on the season, 5 each by RB1 Cody Schrader and QB Brady Cook. Cook has 7 interceptions to go along w/his 6 passing TDs and has been sacked 18 times.
They held Vandy to 14 points and Auburn to 17 in OT, but everyone else has put 21+ on them.
Weather in Knoxville is looking to be in the upper 40's, overcast, but dry for the game. So should have no trouble throwing the ball. Rain expected Friday though, so hopefully good drainage on the field and nothing to slow down our receivers.
Remaining games are us, New Mexico State, and Arkansas and at 4-5, and they need to win 2 of 3 to become bowl eligible, so should be motivated. Unless we really blow it on both sides of the ball, there's really no way we should lose this one. Mizzou has me the least worried of any FBS team we'll see this year until Vanderbilt.
