Missouri QB Out

Handling backups is much easier when you have time to prepare for them. JF is a big loss but the facts are that he has been a highly inconsistent player his whole career. He just happened to step up yesterday versus a depleted UGA team. Mauk has a big task ahead of him but he has a very experienced group of receivers to help him along. Still getting JF out of there is good news for us.

We will probably be up against their 3rd stringer by the time we play them..... He has more experience.

I have to agree, it seems backup QB's love to have break out games against us....

Has a redshirt freshman though?

It's one thing when a junior whose been on the bench and in the system for his 3rd (or if redshirted, 4th) year does it.

It's another when a guy who's a RS Freshman with no game experience experience and only a single year of practice in the system has to take the ball.

You are right... My bad

Had Berkstresser played (based on how he played all the other SEC competition), TN would have won by something like 31-10 or 35-7. He was that bad...so no wonder a RS FR is higher on the depth chart this season.

Don't know whether to say we were unlucky or not to end up getting a quasi-healthy Franklin back in our game vs playing their awful backup. We'd probably have won but we might not have made the coaching change after a bowl-game season.

I look at it both ways, good and bad.

Mizzou is a very physical team. Tough in the trenches coaches going have to coach. Our OL will have to deal with it. Not sure if they have an up tempo offense with this QB.
Physically handle Ga yesterday.

They have two games USCe and FL to get kinks out. By the time Mauk got in the GA defense was tired and beaten. The speed of the game will be a factor.

We play Alabama the week before....barring injury will see how the trenches play out. We should be prepared.

We improve every week. Confusing Mauk will be a key problem is fl and USC will be a good ON the job training program.

This game will come down to coaching and prep.

Dooley had enough nails in the coffin but yes he may have gotten another year with that win and a bowl game. Omg never thought of it that way but you are right.

When I said "Don't know whether to say we were unlucky or not to end up getting a quasi-healthy Franklin back in our game vs playing their awful backup" I was referring to last year's game.

not sure if any confusion there; just clearing that up

I honestly thought he Franklin would be back for our game until the report came out.

Nah. At best it was looking like he'd be back for the Ole Miss or A&M game before the report.

That said, the kid also refuses to use pain killers, so it also takes him even longer to fully recover.

I hope we break our trend of making backup QB look good.

I want to ask that question again, though, has it ever happened against a Freshman QB, redshirt or not? It's one thing when it's a junior or a redshirt junior that's in his 3rd-4th year in someone's system.

Mizzou is three weeks off a lot can happen and I have always said that we would win this game because of their schedule prior to us. Tough haul without a bye week. Should be interesting game but a lot of football between now and then. It should be a physical game.

They set up a tent in GAs backfield yesterday.

Espn jus announced that he is only out for 3-5 weeks instead of rest of the regular season.

Really hate to see someone that puts in all that work and is set back by injury. He was hurt for much of last year, too.

Couldn't have come at a worse 3-5 weeks. UF SC UT UK. All east opponents.

Over reaction. Yes we have been schooled but to base future play with different staffs and players is just a waste of time

I hope you're right, but we sure made Florida's backup look like the second coming of Tim Tebow this year... well, maybe he didn't look THAT good, but he definitely didn't look like a backup once he got warmed up on us.
