Sadly, neither was an EE. That would have helped tremendously.

Portal also worked a little differently last year as it pertains to deadlines. We can't take any SEC players and have them eligible for next year unless they were in the portal on or before February 1st. Any other conference we might pluck from, they have to be in the portal on or before May 1st. Last year, the deadline was July 1st because of the late passage of the one-time transfer rule. So we still have a little over a month to hope some good players from other conferences jump into the portal.

I don't believe we are going to offer the sun, moon, and stars to a one-year transfer, unless it is someone we REALLY!!! REALLY!!! want. So far, that has been...no one.

Now, before some of you air heads pounce...yes, we liked Verse, this guy, Neyor, and some others; but...I don't believe we liked them enough to offer what they were looking for/big time NIL, especially the grad transfers.

I DEFINITELY don't think we are failing at everything, but it takes a special brand of orange kool aid to think we've done well in the portal so far this cycle and haven't specifically whiffed on the DL. Doesn't mean we can't fix it, but objectively we've got a very low batting average so far.
