people are against voter ID laws, especially in the South because of the decades and decades of voter suppression attempts specifically aimed at minority voters.
It doesn't matter if getting an ID is hard or easy, I guess I dont really care either way. Government bureaucracy sucks
Forced segregation was upheld for those same decades and decades. And yet we are seeing self segregation coming up more and more. Something be wrong in the past doesnt seem to have a whole lot of impact today.people are against voter ID laws, especially in the South because of the decades and decades of voter suppression attempts specifically aimed at minority voters. Put yourself in their shoes if you can.

Except for the 75% who are for them.people are against voter ID laws, especially in the South because of the decades and decades of voter suppression attempts specifically aimed at minority voters. Put yourself in their shoes if you can.

The GA legislature increased their own power and ability to control the outcome of elections. That's the thing I keep saying. The previous laws were more friendly to the Rs than the new ones are. If the Rs didnt use the previous laws, why would they use the new ones?
The Rs are losing grasp of the state, as gets pointed out in 2020. Their last strongholds will be the small county seats. Yet what did they do? Strengthened the state and weakened the counties.
The is SO much intellectual dissonance coming out against these new laws it's amazing.
Use a couple of synapses in your brain then. Nobody wants poll taxes or to restrict the right to vote. But presenting an ID to prove who you are is a daily task in 2021 for various transactions. It's 10:45 am here and I've already done it twice today. You need it to function in society.I dont have a link explaining the history of the United States of America

Increased power? Possibly. Able to control outcomes? Unlikely. The GA legislature increased their own power and ability to control the outcome of elections.
What specifically in this bill suppresses a person's ability to cast a vote?
How? Why are you dancing around offering specific examples designed to suppress the vote of one party?its designed to do what they've done to suppress the vote in Georgia for decades. Make long lines in minority communities, discouraging them from voting.
Its a "solution" to a non-existent problem
and it wouldn't be law if minorities hadn't had historic participation in 2020
The bill is in English just like every other law. It's not complicated. None of the measures are draconian and most, in fact, allow more ballot access than many other states. They did codify some procedures that modify what happened in 2020, but regs were greatly relaxed in 2020 due to a state of emergency. We can argue the details, but using boycotts and corporate extortion tactics that would make Jesse Jackson proud is way over the top. This is not Jim Crow and anybody with a shread of intellectual honesty knows that.Right and yet they want to suppress the vote using 21st century language like this bill. Its the same concept, voter suppression is voter suppression
Yes, and are the Rs actually gaining strength there? The GA legislature increased their own power and ability to control the outcome of elections.
Yes, and are the Rs actually gaining strength there?
Because the Rs had power at the SoS and county levels too.
This took power from appointed individuals, and gave it to elected officials.
You keep saying this helps Rs, but the old also helped Rs. And in the future it's pretty clear this hurts the Rs by putting power into the hands of the voters, who can now vote for who is in charge of their elections. and the Rs are getting fewer and fewer of those votes.
