MLB cancels ASG in Atlanta

The bill is in English just like every other law. It's not complicated. None of the measures are draconian and most, in fact, allow more ballot access than many other states. They did codify some procedures that modify what happened in 2020, but regs were greatly relaxed in 2020 due to a state of emergency. We can argue the details, but using boycotts and corporate extortion tactics that would make Jesse Jackson proud is way over the top. This is not Jim Crow and anybody with a shread of intellectual honesty knows that.

true, its in English. Like that was my point

A couple interesting findings from the polling data GA posted:

Majorities of whites (74%), blacks (69%) and other minorities (82%) say voters should be required to show photo identification before being allowed to vote.

here's a real interesting one:

"Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans support voter ID requirements, as do 60% of Democrats and 77% of voters not affiliated with either major party."

but

"A majority of Democrats (51%) say voter ID laws are discriminatory"

Seems those Dems are cool with discriminatory voting laws?

What would you call "21st Century language"? I assume you think that everything is written in code words.

Sure. In the Jim Crow era Georgians could spell out their attempts at suppressing the vote clearer.

In the 21st century, societal standards have changed plus they have to contend with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, so they have to hide their real attempts with better targeted language... like this law :)

Specific example of such language?

Idk there was no fraud in 2020 and yet republicans are still crying about it. They stormed the capitol even
Not the Rs who passed this law. This is a case of one of the partys bucking their stereotypes. And what do people do? Double down on their assumptions instead of actually looking at the real situation to see what actually happened.

I dont ever agree with the two party mindset, but this whole thread explains why people get so ingrained with it.

its designed to do what they've done to suppress the vote in Georgia for decades. Make long lines in minority communities, discouraging them from voting.

Its a "solution" to a non-existent problem

and it wouldn't be law if minorities hadn't had historic participation in 2020
How does it make long lines? This increased options.

Right and yet they want to suppress the vote using 21st century language like this bill. Its the same concept, voter suppression is voter suppression

Funny how you can't explain how it suppresses any votes.

the law hurts republicans? LOL now I've seen the silliest argument
The SoS who lost control was an R. Remember it's the guy Trump called.
The small counties that lost power were R strongholds.
The R hold on the state legislature is not as ironclad as either of those institutions were in this last election.

So yes, they actually weakened their hold on future elections with this move. Unless you believe the Rs are suddenly going to be winning more elections?

People freaking out have been wrong on pretty much every facet.
