This is correct. As well as the thought by some Braves writers is that it could also hurt them at the trade deadline as well. Atlanta is one of the few teams that is owned by a company instead of a private person. Therefore their yearly budget is set on the revenue they bring in and not whatever the owner was willing to spend that year. Due to last year their budget was cut, but the thought was that the revenue from the ASG would be used to make deals at the trade deadline. Atlanta has the 4th best odds to win the WS this year, so effectively the MLB neutered one of their WS hopefuls. Now, why would they do this, easy market size and TV revenue. They want LA which is Atlanta's biggest competitor in the WS.So even in a an off year (covid) the city of Atlanta is going to lose several million in local revenue because MLB wants to prove a political point to the state of GA.
My post above lends more to my point.I'm sure very little - especially when there would be limited attendance. If Atlanta was to ever lose a Super Bowl over this, it would probably create a stir.
This is one of those times you should use your BRAIN!And that dipstick Governor in Georgia goes on Fox News yesterday "were gonna stand up and fight"
Fight what exactly? I thought this was supposed to just be a law, I didn't realize it was something used in a "fight". Kinda letting the cat outta the bag with his intentions
I follow the sport, and I am a Braves fan... but I couldn't tell you the last time I watched an All Star Game. The homerun derby is more interesting. The All Star Game is usually boring as hell.My post above lends more to my point.
I havent researched Atlanta's financial situation but many cities are not in great shape with covid playing a big part of that. I just thought it curious why MLB decided to make a political point aimed at the state of GA but in the end Atl is the one really losing. Even if it isn't SB money.
I personally don't care where the game is played or if it is at all. I dont follow the sport.
Only thing I hate is that I was taking my 13 year old to the game. 13 year olds truly don’t get how a game can get canceled over politics.I follow the sport, and I am a Braves fan... but I couldn't tell you the last time I watched an All Star Game. The homerun derby is more interesting. The All Star Game is usually boring as hell.
Trump calls for MLB Boycott, warns ‘woke’ corporations after All-Star Game pullout
Former President Donald Trump fired a high, hard fastball at Major League Baseball on Friday night, urging fans to boycott the "national pastime" over its decision to pull this year’s All-Star Game from the Atlanta area.
Trump asserted MLB’s leadership was "afraid of the Radical Left Democrats," claiming the party pressured MLB to relocate its mid-summer game because of Georgia’s new election law, recently signed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.

What sh** show?So you think having these regulations to prevent the sh** show that happened this past year from happening again is bad?
Wow...SMH I guess they don't teach African American history at UT. Sad.
Kind of what I expected. Playing the victim card and when someone calls you out, you deflect. Congrats on being a typical liberal. A person who thinks minorities are too dumb or incapable of thinking for themselves or doing simple things.
I guess you agree with Biden when he said black people are too dumb to use the internet right? Just stop with your ignorance. Voting is easy for everyone. Show your ID, sign a paper, go to a booth and cast a vote. Simple as it gets.
