I have heard Halas isn't expected to be able to get into school here. Is that bogus or a legit worry?

I don't know. That would be somewhat surprising to me, he's been committed since Nov. 2012. Certainly could be legit though. I don't remember the specific player, but I remember there being a kid that could't get into school and CDS kept that info to himself so the player could maintain his leverage. I'm not saying that's the case with Halas, I have no info, maybe someone else can shed some light.

I typed in the slot values of those positions.

If they get drafted at those positions, we have little hope of them not signing.

Any of them doing anything to discourage MLB teams from drafting them in a signing round?

What do you mean?

Basically, anything that says to MLB teams that their mind is made up to go (or return) to school or that they aren't signable at their projected slot.

Like when Kyle Serrano was first eligible and announced he wouldn't sign if drafted after a certain round, or like Bukauskas last year who sent letters to all MLB teams telling them not to bother drafting him because he was 100% set on going to UNC, or like Nathan Kirby who convinced teams he was serious about going to Virginia by declining to participate in the early drug testing program mandatory for players expected to be drafted in the top 200 spots.

Or by not going to MLB team pre-draft workouts.

I don't think so...I know Cabbage and Davila have had work outs recently. Betts was shut down from throwing due to an elbow issue, but he's not going to fall, some predicting first pick of the Yankees.

I should clarify that the link I posted wasn't a mock draft...

Vol66,

Have you mapped out our rotation and lineup for next year if we lose nearly all of these 7 plus VJax?

I've thought about it, sure. I think we will have to wait and see...I read a 4 round mock that had Stew, Lee and Owenby going. Throw Cox in there...we'd be replacing the whole rotation. You'd be looking at Warren, Martin...maybe Serrano, though he's certainly been better coming out of the pen, then looking at Neely or Curl possibly...

Reid has been solid this summer so far, a real bummer is the loss of Westphal...We don't know what Robinson, Jackson, Freeman or Vanderford can do.

The lineup...would take me some time.

Yeah, it's scary. Not in a good way.

The above is a worst case scenario with us losing...

Marks, Wormsley, Lenstrohm and Youngblood, seniors

Maggio, Houser, Plunkett, dismissed

Westphal, injury

Stew, AJ, VJax, Lee, Cox , Owenby, Betts, Hayes, Cabbage, Davila to the draft

It's TJ surgery for him...isn't recovery like a year for that?

Okay, i didnt know that. Yes, its 1 -2 years before kids are back to previous levels, however at 9 months they can begin to throw in competition again.

just a hunch but I don't think we lose both Owenby and Lee. I think one if not both stay. Lee may be the most probable to stay........and I'm thinking Cox stays. Thats my $.02 and its worth about $.01!

If the slot is correct and AJ is offered $186,000 and change, he's gone or at least I'd tell my rising senior to go.......

Hoooooowever, a lot of SS in the SEC this year ahead of him and if he did come back and hit like he did the last half of the season he could garner $500,000+ and be the best SS out of the conference next year. Tough call......

He can get higher then that with a good year. No doubt. Like you said, he will be best returning SS.

I was just throwing around a worse case scenario, could we lose all those guys...maybe, is it probable, no, I don't think so.

I don't follow recruiting and I don't know anything about the draft, other than the basic info and what I read, which is very little until the week leading up to the draft. After the draft, I try not to read anything at all. :)

Virtually impossible to get more as a senior.

The news of his dad getting the job might bring him back but regardless of where he is drafted it will cost him $ if he comes back

Seniors don't get slot

more true than not true however for a slick fielding shortstop who has the potential to hit over .335 in the SEC he may have a number of teams wanting to pay him......
