'24 MO DL Williams Nwaneri (Mizzou commit)

Changing the topic.... tonight and tomorrow could drastically change the trajectory of Vol recruiting depending on how many guys go in the first 3 rounds. It would be ideal to have 3 tonight and two go in the 2nd round to immediately sell the NFL potential to all the top prospects we're on. It's one of the last pieces needed to help snag a top 5 type class.
The latest mock draft issued by Kiper this morning had 2 Vols going in the 1st round (Darnell Wright & Hendon Hooker). McShay only had Wright going in the 1st round in his final mock draft issued this morning. I think Wright and Hooker will go in the 1st round. I think Hyatt, Young and Tillman will go in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I don't know when or where they'll go, but I stopped putting stock in the mocks a long time ago beyond the first 5-7 draft picks.

Yes. Kiper and McShay are usually pretty good for about the first 10 picks, mostly because they've got sources within the organizations telling them which way they're leaning.

I'm thinking that things could get really whacky this year.

No one else with more than 3.

Earlier this week, Williams Nwanerinamed his top 10 schools. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound five-star out of Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North is down to Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon and Tennessee.

Nwaneri has double-digit schools on his list, but the list of contenders looks to be much smaller. At this stage, two schools have separated themselves. A decision before his senior season is likely, so the elite defensive lineman in the midwest is quietly moving toward making his choice.

Brent Venables, Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis have done an outstanding job recruiting Nwaneri. He has visited Norman around half a dozen times, he feels comfortable around the people there and the Sooners have been considered the favorite much of his recruitment

The team surging is Tennessee. After the last visit to Knoxville in April, the Vols made a significant move. The SEC program was in this race before that visit, but coming off that trip, Tennessee became a true contender. Josh Heupel, Rodney Garner, Mike Eckler and others are involved in Nwaneri’s recruitment.

One source close to this told me right after that visit, “Tennessee is now the team to beat. Williams loves it there.”
