Defensive holding. That was the fancy scheme. The weather conditions and the crowd muddied the game up to where it came down to us not being able to overcome them physically.
But those mutt fans insist that it was just Kirby's brilliant defensive schemes that out-witted our gimmicks
Even though they never explained what fancy things they were doing defensively that kept us from moving the ball lol
this stuff this is why I read the threads. This recruitment has shifted back in UT's favor a bit, because of the dialogue with our coaches, not the NIL stuff. UT's staff, Garner and coach Chop, were very clear on his visit that they saw Nwaneri playing with his hand on the dirt and primarily being a DT with the ability to rush the QB from inside and push the pocket, like Aaron Donald. They told him he would play some situational EDGE stuff but they absolutely see him playing DT primarily.
This didn't go over well with William at first, but once he went on his other visits to UGA, OU, Oregon, he started seeing and hearing fairly similar things, but those schools beat around the bush because they knew he wasn't being receptive to the idea of being a full time DT. Mizzou has told him he can play whatever he wants lol. Anyhow, once Nwaneri and our staff were able to have some continued conversations after some of his other visits, he is starting to come around on the vision that RG has for him.
The NIL stuff will sort itself out.....that wasn't the issue for why we faded after his OV, nor will it be the most important factor IMO.

So he’s another Kahlil McKenzie? His film was outrageously good. They’re high school kids and everything is speculation. NIL potentially will ruin college football if the zealots run around throwing $millions at every 5* recruit who hasn’t made any contribution yet to the program. How can any form of healthy culture be maintained if veteran starters are being paid less than a new recruit? A program of mercenaries seems impossible to manage and if this guy is truly going to the highest bidder then I would pass and spread those dollars across more of my team. JMO, TIFWIW, AARPMost of the time the top DL and #1 overall recruit is easily projected to be a high first round pick. Have you watched his film?
He is straight forward. Williams always respected Garner, he does more now. Not saying we for sure land him but Garner and the Vols have his attention. GBO!Garner doesn’t play games and will bust your a$$ off to get the most out of you.
If he wants to get to the NFL, his background should speak for itself.

If that's true, he should tell Drunkenwits with a straight face, OK, I want to play quarterback And then stare him down. And sign with us, of course. This recruitment has shifted back in UT's favor a bit, because of the dialogue with our coaches, not the NIL stuff. I’m not sure what sources you have or anything, but this situation sounds very realistic. If this is true, I’m much more confident about landing this kid. If he’s able to look past the position and appreciate the honesty from our coaching staff then I could see it going our way. This recruitment has shifted back in UT's favor a bit, because of the dialogue with our coaches, not the NIL stuff. Thanks for this post. There are folks here who whine about the staff not "closing" or doing shady things to get guys who need to read it.This recruitment has shifted back in UT's favor a bit, because of the dialogue with our coaches, not the NIL stuff.
