'24 MO DL Williams Nwaneri (Mizzou commit)

Auburn has done some crazy stuff on NIL lately. They run the risk of being TX A&M 2.0. Freeze has never had the money backing him like he does at Auburn. They are going to attempt and buy a National Championship like they did with Cam. Should be interesting to watch and see how fast this cash dries up
Honestly, I get the heebie jeebies anytime a recruit comes down to us and Auburn. It's kinda like the UF game. You just expect the worst outcome.

I’ll say this, they used Tennessee as an example of reviving the program really quick. Thats what Freeze is selling and the boosters are buying. Freeze is an excellent coach. I do wonder if he can hold the team and program together though. When you hire mercenaries…you can’t get mad when they jump ship if things don’t go their way at first.

Why does every thread turn into an NIL Donation??
Well it helps get a lot of these 5 star kids according to multiple credible insiders on this board so yeah kinda obvious why. All Vol fans should be able to donate $5 a month. You can cut that $5 away from the budget in many ways over a month and redirect it to Tennessee getting a top flight roster

If true, those of us who have donated are scratching our heads. Wondering where's the beef?

Perhaps it just isnt that simple?

Could plan B be to let the annual NIL cost be established and let them train and grow a year and load up the cash cow in the portal if it does not compromise the rest of the room? There has to be a value/cost analysis that COULD be below the bank balance. The new world will have growing pains.

Yeah…No… Equivalent of paying taxes. They take your money do what they want with it.

Idk but a few of these insiders claim that in the next 1-2 months or so these recruiting battles and Spyre will have a a big impact with each other. We’ll see I guess. Ryan Wingo and WN come to mind at the moment from reading what AP, the insiders on here and other outside of the program are saying. We’ll see but probably a good idea to give $5 a month

So you’re saying he’s at worst one of the best 7ish developers of d-linemen in the entire country
Not exactly what I’m saying... There is a top tier of schools and coaches generally mentioned because they have put multiple dudes into the first round since these kids have been in middle school. Then there is everyone else. Of those everyone else, Garner is respected, meaning positive things are said, but not so much to significantly differentiate him from other coaches who have also placed a guy or two in the first round during a recruit’s lifetime.

For some perspective, CRG’s only two first rounders since 2024 recruits were born were Dee Ford when they were 8 years old and Derek Brown when they were in 8th grade. As fans, we see 34 players drafted, 12 straight years (99-2011) of players drafted, and 7 first round picks (01, 01, 02, 03, 05, 14, 20). Its really impressive. But recruits and families also see 2 total players (5th and 3rd rounds) in the last 3 years (their entire high school career). 2020 was a good year for Garner, but he wasn’t texting these kids as 8th graders the night of the draft saying ‘See Brown and Davidson? I can do that for you.’

I’m not in any way saying Garner is a bad coach. There’s just a different perspective between us older fans and the these younger recruits. We also like Facebook and these kids have never gotten on it. All of this was to answer the questions on this board of ‘How could any recruit consider these other schools when we have Garner?’ I know it seems like I’m bashing Garner, but I promise it’s not my intent. It’s just to show a perspective that is not widely shared on this board, but is pertinent to recruiting in 2023.

It really doesn’t matter. Nwaneri isn’t picking his school based on what we think on this message board. Let’s just all hope it’s the Vols on August 14!
