You hit the nail on the head. It will be a Fing mess. Bama and Auburn will be paying high school kids to move instate. That law will probably be tested in federal court fairly quickly and if by some miracle it is upheld, it won't be but about 30 seconds that every other state will pass their own law with the same basic language. Players that want to leave the state to play football may just move to their new state for their last year or two of high school and get the early NIL pipeline going. I am all for NIL but this seems like a bit of an over reach on Missouri's part.
Fortunately, they only have maybe one or two players that we would be going after in every cycle anyways.
Pretty much, except you don’t owe anything if you hold up your end of the bargain. A lot of companies pay out commissions this way, have like a one year clawback if a customer backs out of a deal. I’m completely guessing but I hope if whatever Missouri is doing is turning heads that we figure out how to neutralize it.So like an interest free credit card, sounds good to me.
Clawbacks have severe limitations. Once the money has been spent, the NIL entity would have collection and legal costs. The player can also file for bankruptcy protection.I bet they are, they just have clawbacks attached to it. I’m completely guessing but I’d imagine the language is if they run the have a vesting schedule of sorts. Basically if you complete the 24 season, kids who got NIL last year for that year are good, but if you walk before a time frame you owe it back? Surely they aren’t just throwing cash bags out with no safety net like the old days?
Nah, man. BOT has clearly stated we don't spend enough. I am sure he knows exactly how much each collective offers each athlete. The thing people keep missing is that we don't actually know who offers the most money. Mizzou may have just needed to match out of state schools to pull Nwaneri. People make assumptions but none of us know.
LOL...I believe our NIL is top tier. I think the coaches have a number they don't want to go over likely relative to needs, impact, etc. They play the long game and will have stability and sustainability.Nah, man. They make it so it would be impossible to collect on NIL payments without going to that school. So if NIL cannot be tied to signing with a particular school, then what stops Missouri athletes from collecting compensation for a few months and then signing with another program?

"recruits cannot sign any NIL deal contingent on going to any particular school"
I think that is correct and a big risk for Mizzou. But the law probably couldn't have dictated the school or even an in state school without making it pay for play.So if NIL cannot be tied to signing with a particular school, then what stops Missouri athletes from collecting compensation for a few months and then signing with another program?

The MO law is making NIL contingent on attending an in-state school. They make it so it would be impossible to collect on NIL payments without going to that school.
They'll say you have to be at X location on this date for an autograph signing or appearance. Technically, you could go to another school, but you'd miss practices classes and have to foot the transportation bill.
It doesn’t have to be contingent on them going to a particular school but you can make it contingent on terms that almost force the kid to be in a particular area to be able to fulfill those terms. I would imagine this eventually gets struck down or adjusted to even the playing field. Right now it’s only in state players that qualify for early NIL but you could have some kids move instate in high school just to collect. So if NIL cannot be tied to signing with a particular school, then what stops Missouri athletes from collecting compensation for a few months and then signing with another program?
