I want this player. I know why the coaches want him. I just don’t understand why the poster said we absolutely had to have this one.

I never said we don’t need elite players to take the next step. I just don’t think the recruiting class for this year will be a success or failure because of this one player. And I don’t think WR is going to be the position we are going to have to worry about.

Yea, I just treat it as need to get players like that. No single player is usually a need unless it’s at the end of a class and you didn’t fill the spot yet

Not talking about the OP, but there are plenty of posters who adamantly claim that if a certain player does not come, then we will never be relevant again.

Lord, we don't "need" Wingo, but we do need him. Ya'll feel that? The whole "we don't need this guy" drives me absolutely nuts. We will be fine either way. But we do need this guy if that makes sense. And if not, lets find someone else just as good. Its neccessary. Ya'll thought Tillman was good? We need to improve if we want to get where we want to be. Yes, I did not forget that we just went 10-2.

He is one of the best WRs in the country this cycle and he's from the state of one of our division's rivals. He's also the type of talent that can help us reach that next level.

The whole “we have to get this player, or the whole class is worthless” drives me crazy. The point is get another one of his caliber if he chooses somewhere else. Absolutely no one thinks we don’t need to improve our roster considering we have to play AL and GA every year.

Yes exactly, Heupel with Talent like this would absolutely move Tennessee into the elite and win the big games more often than not Vs Bama and Georgia. We see Georgia’s vaunted defense get shredded vs LSU who has very good outside talent. We really saw it again in the semis. Heupel is able to get a few more guys like Wingo and Tennessee would be nearly unstoppable. Tennessee already flies past most teams. Kirby wouldn’t be able to crush the system this time when Heupel has similar players in his offense. Execution will improve mightily and suddenly those open plays vs Georgia magically happen…. Funny how that works.

Heup will need to bring the BSDs on offense to counter that, and I more than believe he has what it takes to make that happen.

The class wouldn’t be worthless. Missing on Wingo would be disappointing tho, seeing as we lead. There’s only a few guys of his caliber. So yes we NEED him lol

Or maybe star ratings are merely predictive and Ced was, in fact, an elite player. And maybe it will be easier to find more like him by signing 4 and 5 star-rated guys than it will be to find the next 2-star stud.
