I find it hard to believe that 20 people "liked" this post... Its a dang WR coach, who cares... It reflects neither good nor bad about Tennessee. People accept or decline job offers all of the time for all kind of reasons.
PEOPLE HAVE LOST PERSPECTIVE
Every job opening within the NCAA has many candidates, many of whom decline. It is actually a compliment when someone declining an offer at UT makes the press, yet our fans turn it into some sort of embarrassment.
Unless it is some sort of Sandusky like scandal, all press is really good press. So many fans have screamed that this has been a botched hire because we have been publicly denied by a few coaches. That isn't a sign that anything is bungled, it is a sign that enough people actually care what happens at UT (either for or against) that reporting on that story will increase ratings. You know why every person who is interviewed at Purdue, Boston College, NCSU or Colorado isn't being splashed across the news ticker? Because they TRULY are irrelevant.
When trying to win the media battle, the fate worse than death is when no one is talking about your failures or achievements. When coaches turning us down no longer makes the news, that is when UT has really become an embarrassment.
If Tee wants to stay at USC, who are we to tell him that is a bad decision? He is a WR coach. A position coach. There are other similarly gifted,
perhaps even BETTER, candidates out there to teach our WR's technique and route running.
BOTTOM LINE: I hope that every decision made at UT is nitpicked by every major media outlet. Why? Because every recruit that watches that will never remember why he heard the name Tennessee, just that it has been beat into his brain repeatedly. That is why stupid or annoying commercials work, it isn't about liking what you hear or see, it is about it being beat into you enough that when you are at the point of making a decision that specific name pops up in your head.
sorry for long rant.
