more class from the libs part 2.

One of the two intial reasons for war with Iraq was that Sadam was supposedly harboring al qaeda. That connection, which Tenet later refuted, bought Bush a ton of political capital. I'm not sure if the public would have supported a war with Iraq based on them having WMDs alone.

That's probably true. I'm not debating how we got there. I'm debating why we're there and why it matters in the long run. If Iran dismantled it's thoecracy, we might leave quickly. They won't, so we won't

That said, TGW UN was little more than a debating body of fringe idiots until the teeth were added back to some degree.

When? How? Who was buying it?

What's Halibutton got to do with it. GWB was an idiot, but he didn't need any money from anyone.

Haliburton Dick has continued to claim there was a relationship between Iraq and the 9/11 terrorists. It's his story, and he's sticking to it.

How the hell do you figure that Blagojovich is Obama's crony. Show me some damn proof, or you're a lying sheep.

On Blgojovich and the appointment for Obama's open seat in the US Senate.

Obama's spokesman Axelrod on Nov. 23, 2008: "I know he's (Obama) talked to the governor, and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

After the tapes of Blagojovich selling that seat to the highest bidder were leaked by investigators to the press.

Axelrod (Dec9, 2008) issued a statement saying: "I was mistaken. ... They (Blagojovich and Obama) did not then or at any time discuss the subject."

Obama refused to say whether his incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had spoken with the governor.

"Let me stop you there because it's an ongoing investigation. I think it would be inappropriate for me to, you know, remark on the situation beyond the facts that I know. And that's the fact that I didn't discuss this issue with the governor at all." Obama said.
(even though his chief spokesman had said just the opposite only two weeks before)

Can you say, "baaa baaa??"

Both Obama and Blagojevich got extensive money and support from Chicago businessman Antonin "Tony" Rezko, who is now under federal indictment.

(Rezko also sold some property to Obama taking a $500,000 loss after owning it only six months.)

And Obama is close to Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, who has been the governor's staunchest legislative ally.

At least one top aide to Obama, Michael Strautmanis, previously worked for Blagojevich. Obama has appointed Strautmanis to serve as White House chief of staff to the presidential assistant for intergovernmental relations and public liaison. The Chicago native was legislative director and counsel to Blagojevich when the governor was a member of Congress and then helped Blagojevich win the governorship in 2002.

In court documents, FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain detailed several phone calls between Blagojevich and his aides that were intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the past month.

Blagojevich is accused of conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti. Among his alleged desires: a Cabinet post, placement at a private foundation in a significant position, campaign contributions or an ambassadorship.

The cabinet post or an ambassadorship would have to include Obama in the scheme.

You forgot "He tried to kill my daddy."

I haven't heard it. I'm surprised if it's the case. Time will certainly give us a better handle on the workings there. Unfortunately, our intel services had been so gutted that putting together the picture might be impossible and was certainly compromised in 2003. . My guess us that the ties are deeper than we know today, but weren't what had been sold to the masses.

Bush said those exact words when talking about the need to remove Hussein from power. His words, not mine.

That's true. What can I say. He's an idiot, although he was trying to support the Iraq as terrorist threat to America.

American were stupid enough to buy it.

That isn't so hard to believe since Saddam was openly recruitiong suicide bombers to attack Israel. Some reports even said he wanted them to strike American interests around the globe.

Good to see the mistake of acting as if the Middle East is some homogeneous monolith is not limited to Bush and the rest of the Chicken Hawk Chorus.

We'll be out of the Balkans in six months, ow wait that was fifteen years ago, we'll be out of Iraq before we are out of the Balkans.
