California asks residents not to charge electric vehicles, days after announcing gas car ban

I get turning off the lights when one' not occupying a room, or moderating one's thermostat settings (both of which I do in my household as a matter of economy), but if the power grid is unable to handle the demand from the EVs that are in circulation now, is there any realistic notion that their grid will be ready in a decade (and change) for the increase in demand?

A good politician would be able to respond with 30 minutes of babble, with an ultimate answer of "no, but if we take more taxes we can try"

I was listening to Wilkow yesterday and spoke about how disgruntled the Dems were and said Can one be gruntled. chuckled.

Not the point. The point is as late as the late 70s/early 80s we were being scared into believing another ice age was imminent. The “experts” were adamant. Ice caps may very well be experiencing some melt…now. We have no way of knowing if that will continue or if climate conditions change over time on their own that suspends that melt and/or we see another expansion of the ice caps.

Expert after expert predicted doom that was supposed to have happened before now. We simply don’t know how the climate will change going forward. And the science is not settled as to how much the climate changes wrt human activity. I’m a conservationist, avid outdoorsman, want to see the cleanest of oceans, rivers, lakes, mountains and air, but I don’t believe we solve this by cutting our economic legs out from under us with knee jerk reactionary policies. I’m fine with a market based, phased in move toward cleaner, cheaper energy (Nat gas, nuclear)…primarily from a national security perspective. But these out of left field, blunt force trauma policies coming from the left are not the answer.
This!!!!^^^^^

Liberals will tell you the grid is just fine. Just charge your car at night. What's your problem???

Cali residents should just walk to work and the store.

PICTURED: Devastating Pictures of the Rape of America's century-old hardwood forests... Stripped Bare to Provide Wood Pellets for European Energy Plants - in a Deluded Bid to Meet Climate Goals

Environmentalists warn that hundreds of thousands of acres of forest are being torn down each year in the U.S. southeast to make wood pellets to fuel European power plants in a deluded bid to fight climate change.

The Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) and other groups say logging in woodlands stretching from Texas to Virginia is ravaging a biodiversity hotspot, including century-old hardwood trees that will take decades to replace.

Biden sets goal of enough Floating Offshore Wind to power 5 million homes by 2035

The Biden administration announced new initiatives Thursday to stand up thousands of megawatts of floating offshore wind capacity over the next decade to supplement fixed wind capacity constructed in more shallow waters.

The administration set a goal of deploying 15 gigawatts of installed floating offshore wind capacity, enough to power 5 million homes, by 2035, the deadline President Joe Biden set for achieving a carbon-free power sector. Officials also announced new programs at the Department of Energy designed to help make floating wind technologies cheaper and ensure they can be deployed at a commercial scale.

You do realize that the parts of the tree that go into pellets have historically been landfilled, sold as mulch, or burned locally in a waste boiler. The forest in question was harvested for the wood to be used in furniture, flooring or expensive homes. I'd prefer to look at it as we're selling Europe our garbage.

There is a plant up the road from me that takes all the wood scraps and makes steam. They took say the Chattanooga tornado woodpile, which was massive. and I am sure a bigger footprint than this harvesting.
I wonder if it matters if soft or hardwood?

And who knew there was a SPLC as well as a SELC

She’s a malevolent little piece of work. Imagine the economic devastation she could wreak if her countrymen are stupid enough to someday elect her to a position of power.

Vulnerable countries demand global tax to pay for climate-led loss and damage

Some of the world’s most vulnerable countries have prepared a paper, seen by the Guardian, for discussion this week at the UN general assembly. It shows that poor countries are preparing to ask for a “climate-related and justice-based” global tax, as a way of funding payments for loss and damage suffered by the developing world.
The funds could be raised by a global carbon tax, a tax on airline travel, a levy on the heavily polluting and carbon-intensive bunker fuels used by ships, adding taxes to fossil fuel extraction, or a tax on financial transactions.
