More heart than I have seen in 15 years

Don't forget this one.
So if we’re 8-0 & ranked in the top ten, in the middle of the national conversation through the end of October, but finish 9-3 ranked #21 and accept a Citrus Bowl invite, you win? Seems the other way around. I said nationally competitive by ‘23 if not before. You brought up “final poll of the season.” Two different things. I’ll bet you any amount of money we’re ranked in the top 15-20 BEFORE the end of 2023.

Yes, that's exactly what it means; Butch Jones accomplished what you just described and I highly doubt anyone here would be singing his praises right now considering how he finished. Which is my entire point, being in in the Top 15 in October means jack sh** if you can't end up there.

So take my bet or leave it. How you end up the season is what counts, not how you're doing in the middle of it. They don't hand out trophies for being the best midseason.

No matter the results. More short handed than a long time More heart also
I think we are seeing a perfect example of addition by subtraction. Getting rid of the former staff and some, not all, of the players that hit the portal went a long, long way in changing the atmosphere around the program. What remains came together and bought into the new staff. I have to admit I wasn't wild about Heupel's hire, but while he might not be what we wanted, it's starting to look like he's exactly what we needed. Like you said, the results and record may not be late 90's level, but the way this team is playing...showing heart and togetherness...well, it's a team you can't help but feel proud about.

Wrong time, wrong place for this post, sorry!
Soak up the 45- 20 win with only 71 scholarship players, a new coach and system

Go Vols

Let him be. That's exponentially more positive than I've seen him post before. He might get addicted to it.

Bumping this because VolsSportsFan never responded last year.

Man some of y’all need to learn the game of football. It’s ridiculous that half of you can’t be satisfied with a win against a ranked opponent on the road. Sure we have plenty to work on. We could be A&M or Notre Dame tonight. Stop calling for the coaches head and players heads after a game in which we won. Our defense is better than we expected no matter how you look at it. Offense laid an egg tonight. How many times has our offense done that under Heupel? Maybe 1 time. Offense will be fine but if we are gonna celebrate, let’s celebrate that defense. If you can’t root for this team, there are 1600 others to pick from. Go Vols!

Yes - name your price.

That’s it? I was thinking $1,000.
$100 we are not ranked the Top 20 by the end of 2023.

Bookmark this page, if we are in the final Top 20 in any season (2021, 2022, 2023) I will Venmo/Paypal/mail you $100.
Bumping this because I never did hear from you.

I'll admit that I wasn't sold at first on Heup.

But....bet against your own team?

No way.
