I think Milton played better despite the overthrows. If he can get his long ball down I think he is hands down the best QB we have... That being said (exactly what you said) it seems what made those QBs transfer are issues all the same here.A one touchdown game is a close game, but UT continues to start a QB that can’t throw a pass and then shoot themselves in the foot with penalties. I was happy to see Hooker play well, but did what cost him his starting roll at VT at the end of the game. UT could have easily beat Pitt if they could find a QB that can play four quarters.

We need to support these guys. They actually stayed and want to be here. Its going to be rough this season, but if they continue to show fight, I'll be proud of them
I've seen a lot of heart over the last 15 years. I saw a lot of heart when Tennessee won at Auburn a few years ago. I saw heart when Tennessee played Alabama to a near stand-still in 2009. I saw heart when Tennessee rallied to beat Indiana in that bowl game a few years back.

I agree with the overall message of the OP, this team showed fight and didn't quit, but with all of the attrition and new systems on both sides of the ball, getting to 6 wins will be an achievement. That said, I think we're getting ahead of ourselves to think we'll be national contenders in 2023, by 2023 hopefully we are good for 7-8 wins and no losses of 20 or more.Give Heupel two seasons. Year 3 we will be national contenders. He has two things the last 3 coaches didn’t: a brain and no ego.

We loved Butch's positivity and feel good quotes. We also loved the fact that Gump Cornbread was country and "a real football coach." Then we denigrated those coaches for the same reasons on their way out.
