Yes. The TP was the first effort by fiscal conservatives to push back in an organized way. There have been rallies by pro-lifers and 2nd Amendment folks but not on the scale much less the orgainzation of union rallies, gay rights rallies, and various other "liberal" cause rallies.

No I've learned today there is no such thing as an actual TP member. Just sneaky Republicans.

Actually... people who previously weren't engaged but became engaged through the TP simply found they had no home in the Democratic Party. There is no room for fiscal restraint much less respect for constitutional restraint in the modern Democratic party.

(And that is NOT to say there's a great deal in the GOP... especially with establishment types like McCain and Romney)
